Ok I am Virgin Poster, but I want to grow, so I can take criticism......

Recently I have designed my first ecommerce project. And if there is one thing I know, my design gets a passing grade, my navigation could use tutoring, but my copy has put me on academic probation. In other words I am getting sales, but not closing the deal with any consistency. I am writing to get your insight and critiques.

    What I suspect already:
    • Need to get sales page, 1 page away from home page.
    • Enhance my sales copy
    • Ask professionals for insight

Here is the site, (I don't want it to come up in the search engines, hence the *)
    k*r*i*s*t*e*n*l*o*c*k.com

I thank you for taking time to leave your feedback.

Looks nice, but many different things are jumbled together.

Hair, money, web design etc. You need to put each category on separate pages or subdomains.

looks pretty cool, I like both the design and content. To devide it ito categories and place on separate pages would be a good idea.

    I agree with lightless,
Most important, take off the "make money now", or put it somewhere else,
if you want poeple to click on that you have to lead them,
make them the desire to click on it.

    Lots Of Luck!

larrylar. There's too much going on from the standpoint of a target market. You need to focus on something. It's all over the place so confusing to the visitor so you need to simplify your message. However, I LOVE the look and the idea and I think you have a great idea.

See my blog at the link below to get a free target audience document. That will help you define your target and then you can create a marketing strategy. By the way, "urban hair" sounds like a good phrase to hang your hat on. How competitive is it? If it's too competitive, there might be a long tail version of it.

I think more visuals of the hair. It looks killer good (the braiding) and my friends of color tell me it is very easy to take care of once it's done. Women really love "looks good and fixes fast" giving you more time in your day. Your photo looks good. Show different styles on the front. Draw the audience in.

A giant CD won't capture it like short medium and long hair will. Address the issue of hair loss as a result of this kind of braiding. I'm not a woman of color but friends that are tell me they do it and then have it taken out for a while to minimize breakage. I don't know if it's fact or fallacy but addressing a type of schedule (a subject link to your blog) would draw in people, too.

I love the colors and the idea is right on. You don't really need a sales letter as much as you need that landing page to kick butt. Also on my blog is a landing page makeover. The copy is too long for your page but you'll get an example of how you narrow the focus and develop a great hook. I think you could do VERY well in this niche. So keep at it! You could probably use a squeeze page at some point to build your list. It would be a good one for this niche.

lightless, thanks for the insight. If you notice each link goes to a seperate folder, do you think that is ok or do you recommend sub-domain?

No, focus on one thing in a page.
Don't mention web design and making money in the same page as hair.
Give them their own separate pages/sub-domains. Focus increases conversions.
