What is the minimum amount I need to spend to live in or inside 30kms of Mumbai?

Include food, staying place ..... all things and give me an estimate. It will do if the place is inside 30kms from Mumbai.

    Thanks.

    Only for 1 person.

well if you are planning to rent a 1BHK flat then assume Rs.8k rent plus Rs.2k food and rest depends on you. Around Rs.10k is needed for sure..

yes that's right.. paying guest will be a good option but if you don't want any restriction then go for individual flat as paying guests have many restrictions... instead gt a partner to share a flat with you. That way you will save $$ and also have freedom...

Rent: 10k if you want an apartment all to yourself. Food another 10k. Transportation, utilities & other miscellaneous expenses: 15k. In all about Rs.35,000/$900. This is the very bare minimum.

Paying guest option may indeed be cheaper & you will probably save a lot on food as well as in such accommodations food is provided at a nominal extra charge. The cost of utilities like electricity & laundry also come down heavily in a paying guest accommodation. If you sweat it out & live very frugally you can pull it off in Rs.20,000/$500 in a paying guest accommodation.

amol_cool, that's impossible. Even persons working blue collar jobs require more than that. There are various miscellaneous expenses as well and the OP is online so it's safe to assume he'll be paying for internet, cable tv, cellphone etc.

If you compare it with US dollars, Rs. 5k would be around $130.

That's pretty cheap. 10,000 INR is about $250 USD. My rent alone is over three times that much in Canada lol.

I agree but I think the average salary would be much more in your country as compared to India and you will always find great variation when you convert one currency to the other and try to compare the rates.

That's why people like to settle in countries like US, Canada, UK, etc. because the normal amount in that currency is a big amount here. :)

Hahaha... Had a good laugh at this one! :D
