$150.00 - Theme Redesign - Details Provided - Urgent

RNhawai.com and i have came to aggreement to use his design submission as a base for this new design contest since he was awarded a prize.

The template still needs work so this is a new contest to redesign and revamp what we have so far..

I the basic idea,color scheme, and layout configuration.

I like the feel of the design such as colors and so on but it just looks to simple and regular.

I like web 2.0 components.

Likes:
-Love the integration of the adspot!
-The logo is very creative... but the name is not aznculture.

The name of the website is AsiaFolks.com.

Sorry i did not want to mention the name but we are nearing the final design.

Dislikes:
-The white background and light cream background doesnt contrast well. How about a darker bordercolor with maybe a drop shadow?
-menubar top - needs improvement - something different
-menubar bottom - needs improvement - something different

Suggestions:

Maybe a gradient background will look nice? white to cream?

 

I dont understand, is this a site redesign, and someone is only charging $150.00?? Please PM me if you are doing site redesigns for that cheap

 

Thanks for feedback, I do actually have a cream to white gradient background on there its just a bit subtle I think. I am using a monitor tonight which isn't very good for colours really.

There is also a drop shadow on the content area as you suggested its just again maybe too subtle.

Will work on more and post again

ps:
- I'm not changing the welcome image, only cropping it.
- images of people are not asian and they are royalty free, I took it from istockphoto.

 

Dislikes:
-Outside border blends with background so it doesnt contrast well.
-The border on the intro image doesnt match the other blocks. Maybe adding a drop shadow would make it look better as well.

-Logo just doesnt look right. maybe a icon or symbol would help it.

-Text color on blocks ? How about a dark brown?
