Can you tell me which extension you have used for this integration of Joomla and PhpBB3 ?

I've got all of it running smoothly. At the moment doing some minor graphics stuff before it goes live. One thing I love about JFusion is that :

1. User registration using Forum registration
2. If I put in my avatar at Forum side, you can see your avatar at frontside.

I've tried Community Builder too but failed, and I still dunno why it failed.

Oh ya, I'm using Joomla 1.5 running in Legacy mode coz most of my extensions doesnt run on 1.5. Bummer.

 

How can I shared host handle massive traffic powered by Joomla 1.5?

 

it is HORRIBLY resource intensive. Anyone running a huge joomla site with no issues is probably either paying a fortune for hosting, or has a pretty incredible server box...

 

Joomla is one of the best CMS arround with huge resources. Drupal is also one among the best.

For huge, massive content I would suggest Plone CMS from Visit plone.net

 

Joomla is crap for a massive CMS, it takes up large amounts of resources and its slow. I would highly recommend to not use Joomla in your case. Also what type of CMS do you need? Maybe WordPress would suite your needs?

 

I second that opinion. Joomla is not for huge resource.

Thousands of mods? Where do you get them from? I don't see thousands of them.

 

I'm moving everything over to two installations. Multi Site Drupal and Multi User Wordpress (Mu Wordpress).

MU Wordpress runs by far the biggest website out of any of these content systems wordpress.com.

I would either go with Wordpress or Drupal. I personally like Joomla and I have tried all three but with a massive site consider WP or Drupal...

 

You could use Wordpress combined with some caching plugins like WP-cache or WP-supercache....

And maybe use a cloud computing hosting like www.mosso.com , www.mediatemple.com or www.joyent.com ....not just a shared hosting.
Even if your site holds on having massive traffic (regardless what CMS you use) your host may not (especially shared hosting)...

Those hosting companies designed their offer to deal with massive spikes in the traffic...

 

Why don't you go with WORDPRESS ?? Its very easy to customize and a lot of plugins and themes are available. And also it will get indexed in search engines very soon than other CMS's.

 

Had a look at typo3 yet? You can configure it to generate static html files for all pages so it'll be easier for the server.
