I love MFF because of its security features and moreover it loads faster than IE.

There is one major reason why FF will not gain significant market share. The only major cooperation behind FireFox is Google and just because they have a spat with Microsoft. The day bigger companies start to back FF is when I'll say it is serious competition to IE. Right now its still minor. But as they say minor problems can become major ones.

you know, I would have argued that not too long ago too...FF2 being such a drag on memory but FF3 has me sold. My opera totally and completely wigged out on my a month or two ago...though in fairness it was most likely a glitch in my XP install

Same, it seems like ever since i installed FF IE goes REALLY slow. I guess FF is just that fast :) or maybe FF has something that slows down IE so it makes it seem better then IE:confused: who knows.

IMHO, FF3 is still in beta, yet it is way better than IE8 which has been formally launched.

i have started using firefox 3 and it rocks compared to ie
it is resource hungry but by tweaking a few bits in config it will run a lot faster
and it has some cool themes for it :)

know most people have problems like "my firefox is too slow".
well this is a way too boost you firefox speed, so you can enjoy the internet.
it's called Fasterfox and it allows you to tweak many network and rendering settings such as simultaneous connections, pipelining, cache, DNS cache, and initial paint delay.
Dynamic speed increases can be obtained with the unique prefetching mechanism, which recycles idle bandwidth by silently loading and caching all of the links on the page you are browsing.

it makes the loading time much faster so you can have more tabs open etc.

    so here we go..

Step 1: Open your Firefox browser.

    Step 2: Go to http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1269

Step 3: Click Install Now and finish installation.

Step 4: What you have installed is called Fasterfox, it will improve loading times and comes with lots of other nifty features. Enjoy!

I've not noticed the FF3 being resource hungry. I have 10 tabs open and it's only 111MB. I've pushed it hard though, I'll open 200-300 tabs(my pictures)...then sure! 500MB-1GB+ and 50% cpu usage but under normal circumstances it's just fine IMO

or if you want you can do this (this workd best and you will notice a change in speed !

Type “about:config” in your firefox address bar.

    Search for the following settings:

    1. network.http.pipelining
    Set to true
    2. network.http.pipelining.firstrequest
    Set to true
    3. network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
    Set to 32
    4. network.http.proxy.pipelining
    Set to true
    5. nglayout.initialpaint.delay
    Set to 0

Its very likely that you won’t have an entry for network.http.pipelining.firstrequest. Thats ok. Just add one.

Right-click on the preferences list, select ‘New’ then select ‘Boolean’

    On the first prompt, type:
    network.http.pipelining.firstrequest

On the second prompt, set it to ‘true’

Its also likely that you won’t have an entry for nglayout.initialpaint.delay

Right-click on the preferences list, select ‘New’ then select ‘Integer’

    On the first prompt, type:
    nglayout.initialpaint.delay

On the second prompt, set it to ‘0′

Firefox is great solely based on the extensions, otherwise Webkit-powered browsers are where it's at in my opinion.

Are you serious? FF3 is closer to release than IE8 as FF3 is in beta stage 3 and IE8 is only in its first.

I liked IE8, the looks and feel.
But when i open many tabs it is horribly slow.

    Am biased towards FF.
