Congrats to Ron Paul and the Huckster.

Even though the mentally insane McCain has already won (according to our unbiased mainstream media) it was good to see Ron Paul getting 16% of the vote and Huck got 11%, combined total of 27%, or 1 in 4 Republicans not voting for Americas craziest man. ;)

We didn't hear too much about it though.

I hope Ron sticks in to the end, they will not be able to not mention him if he goes all the way. :)

I don't agree with everything Ron Paul stands for, but hey, good for him. I like Nader, honestly.

AGS the Ron Paul revolution has just started. His supporters realize that this is just beginning. The next step would be to start voting for pro RP politicians who are running for different offices around the country and build a base. The amount of support for RP is much greater than the polls are saying;)

Side note : Ron paul is coming to san diego and ill be there:D on may 23rd

Sometimes winning isn't everything, the ability to achieve such a level of support even though you are totally not a mainstream candidate as in McCain does show something. It certainly isn't easy, just hope Paul fight to the end.

We need more Ron Paul's in the Republican party to bring it back to what it once was. John McCain is horrible!!! If the Republicans stood for Paul's ideas I would be one.

I would never wish death on anyone, that's a fact. BUT, what would be the situation if Insane McWar died before being the official nominee later this year?

Would Ron Paul get the nomination? Or would Huck, Adolf Goolyani and enRom come back into the frame. As I see it there are only two remaining candidates (John McWar and Ron Paul.)

Could my buddy guerilla or one of you guys from the US clear this one up please?

I think there would be another nomination, but I guess it would depend on the timing of it also.

Mitt Romney would probably step back in. He really wants to be Mr. President, I really feel that its all about titles for our forgotten Williard Romney

I think the party could basically just give the nomination to whoever they want (probably Romney). The entire primaries are not really based on U.S. law, but rather Republican Party & Democratic Party internal corporate law.

Apparently, it's at the discretion of the RNC and its membership:

@AGS, it would be a brokered convention scenario. I imagine people will nominate Newt Gingrich, Huck and Romney will get back in the race, there may even be an outsider candidate from the party.

Because of McCain's age and health issues, who he picks as a running mate will be important.

For all we know, McCain may yet be another Reagan and more. That is if he won the election. But to prevent the Democrats from using his age as an issue, it would be imperative for him to select an extremely capable and young Vice Presidential candidate. Wonder if Ron Paul stands a chance? But I guess it is unlucky given that he is not a mainstream candidate.

McCain hates Ron Paul because McCain stands for evil.

He's the biggest state candidate of the bunch, because he's openly for warfare and welfare.

I was thinking it would be quite a fairy tale, if Ron is the Vice President and McCain unfortunately (God Bless him) went to see his maker and we have Ron Paul as President :). Quite far fetch I guess......

    @AGS:
Ron Paul Revival (Amid GOP Decline)

Pretty detailed imagination from that "GOP insider". :)

As I understand it, if something were to happen to a candidate, his delegates would be unbound and could vote their conscience at the convention. I don't know what the rules are specifically, but it was my understanding that they would be limited to choices from the remaining declared candidates (ruling out Newt Gingrinch as guerilla suggested).

I believe the rules you quoted apply to the candidate after s/he has been nominated. I was referring to a scenario in my previous post where something happens before the convention/nomination.

When the bound candidates become unbound, I'm fairly certain they can rewrite the convention rules.

Yep, you're right, Bernard. I originally missed the clause, "as nominated by the national convention...". Good call.

It would not matter who the Republican nominee is, because its gonna be a democrat who'd bag the Presidency this time.

See, Clinton received only 55% of popular vote, Vs McCain, who got 73% of Republican vote in the recent Pennsylvania election. Look at the number of votes each has recieved...

The Dems would win hands down, in every state...
