I recently posted an ad here at DP asking for health related links. Many people PM'ed me but I've been advised not to buy links. Why is it so bad to BUY links when its basically the same as asking for a link within a niche? How is ti different? Are those selling links selling MANY links so google catches on to their pattern? Is there a way to tell if it is safe to buy links?
Buying links was really bad but if you would hire a person to build links for your site its not bad as long as they don't put your links on spam site or bad site.
Yes buying links is not good. You have to do find natural free links. By using one way, three way techniques
Buying links will not harm your SEO. The only reason not to buy links is, when those links are caught by Google as paid links, it will not give u any fruits. And this is simply waste of money in buying links.
It's bad to buy links because google will ban your site if they caught you. One of the reason why google did this because some of webmasters are abusing the PR. They also use it to manipulate the ranking.
buying links = 0 quality Google detects this, it does not count and you can be penalized if you abuse it.
Wrong! Google cannot penalise you for backlinks, if it did so what a wonderful competition blaster would it be. Linking with spammy unrelevant links to your competitors to ruin their position in SERP's. The only good reason not to buy them is as chitanya.seo said loss of money when link seller gets caught by Google.
I'm not talking about obvious self-linking (when links are from the same IP, or whois shows that all linking pages belong to the same person), I'm talking about linking from theoretically not connected pages. I personally don't believe that it could lead to site ban.
Google seems to put a lot more emphasis on penalizing the site that is selling the links because they are manipulating page rank knowingly. It's very harsh to penalize a site buying links because that effectively is the same as any other advertising. Buying links works but entails a risk!!!
yea upto some extent it's bad because spammers they creates huge problems and this may affect your traffic rankings. buying yahoo links and some links from govt trusted sites may definitely enhances your business. so be careful and read the google terms and conditions before buying paid links...
One more thing that you should go for "ONE WAY LINKS" because google very much appreciates these kinda links!
It's bad for Google because it makes people realize how easy it is to get rankings in their lame search engine. It's bad for the people who buy links, because most of them don't know how to properly spend the huge increase of money they get from their improved SERPs.
Call me stupid, but what do you mean by that? Is it in reference to spending the income on the site rather than spending it in the pub on a Friday night?
