I have had and use my egold account for a couple years with no problems. But I try to login yesterday and it would not let me in. I called and they sent me to a different dept. Which I could only contact by email. I have 10k+ in that account and it has been there for months. Thier response to my question follows and they have no answered anything since. Even requests why my account was colsed or how to return my funds.

    James,

Your account has been permanently blocked under our Right of Association clause in the account user agreement. Quoting from the e-gold Account User
    Agreement:

    http://www.e-gold.com/unsecure/terms.htm

    --- begin quote

    4.6. Right of Association

Issuer reserves the right to refuse service to particular individuals or entities, at its sole discretion, with or without cause.

    --- End quote

Please note this means the block will not be removed.

    Thank you,

They have not ask for updated info or anything. Just said it is blocked and will not be unblocked. With no reason. How do I get my money back. There was no laws broken or any rules. I only use that account to pay my programmers. Can they just say we are blocking you and keep your money?

They can block you but they cannot keep your money. They have to give your money back.

Do call them and find out how to get your money back.

They will not take calls and will only work thru email. But they will not reply or answer anything after the first email saying my account as blocked.

Jbragg, 1 have faced a similar situation like you. Just three weeks back, I found that I could not login into my e-gold account. When I contacted them through email, they said that they would be sending a temporarry password at my mailing address, within 15 days.

Now about a month has passed and I have yet not received the password information.

In your case, you try to contact them again and do it through email and ask them for a specific explaination. But dont be harsh in your letter. This is just my feedback to you.

they can block/freeze your account , hey can eat your money
i think you loosen your money and changing your mind about taking it back would be better
if you attempt to contact them for your issue they just send you this sentence

but if you are in US and you are a valid citizen goto police and write this to police and also include you come you got that much fund in your account
    definitely they will help you

The police can't do anything, even if you are in florida, it's a legal matter now, e-gold can change the TOS at any time and no matter when you joined you agree to them.. if they have a clause in there that gives them a reason to block your account they can. So hire a lawyer before doing something like this..

They have full rights to deny the usage of their service to any individual. But they do not have any rights over the funds of the individual they have to return it back to the individual.

I think after all these strange problems, No one should keep much money in e-gold anymore. According their TOS they can do anything without any reason. Better to say there is no TOS. It's like a kid that anything want will do and all of us agreed with that when created the account. I don't know why people risk again and again with keeping money in e-gold in this situation. 10k is not a small money. I hope everyone who see this thread and still have big money in e-gold, exchange at least 70% of his funds or sell them.

there are better options than egold and they are based in less restrictive countries whos governments have more respect for other peoples property and money.

if you want to keep YOUR $$$ stay well away from any USA based digital currency or exchanger! YOU WILL LOSE MONEY! especially if you are not a US citizen. they block accounts at will and steal funds from anybody who cant sue them.

a while back the US gov. stole millions of $$$ from e-gold users and 1mdc users and they used the "funding terrorism":rolleyes: excuse as well as the good old money launder and child pornography accusations. its a shame egold is not a country they would have thrown the weapons or mass destruction lie their way too :)

if you do not want to be a victim of wild US gov. accusations and indiscriminate theft of funds be sure to check that your payment processor/ digital currency or exchanger has absolutely nothing to do with the USA. they can accuse you of anything and it does not matter if its true or not you have no place to sue them.

also online accounts are free dont keep all your eggs in one basket.

Sadly this is not the first case and probably not the last one. E-Gold are scammers, I would not recommend using E-Gold for any type of business. There has been many cases all over the Internet where E-Gold Accounts have been locked for no real reason and usually this happened to customers with high funds.
You may get your money back you may not. :(

Yes, I agree, but the police won't be able to force egold to do anything, thus hiring a lawyer is the OP's best bet.

Like I said in another thread, egold is in the toilet, some exchangers are charging 30% or more to sell it. Some won't even touch it anymore...

I am able to cashout your blocked e-gold money only if you are able to login into your account.
If your account is blocked permanently no one will help.
