I have been trouble getting my community started. I have had this forum for almost a year now and I barely have any active members. The active members are part of the team. I need valuable feedback on my site and would want to know your thoughts. I feel as if I'm ready to give up after all the hardwork I put in. Thanks in advance. - Shadow82x (Founder) Site: www.egadforums.com
Your site is much too broad in its target and doesn't develop a theme for itself at all. You're halfway there in that you have a forum and it seems you have a fair user base but probably only because you lack advertisements and you have lax rules. I wonder how much problem you have with moderation, but that's not the point. I would find a significant theme or area of expertise and stick with it. Furthmore, I would develop a frontend for the forum instead of just the direct talk. This will give you an outlet for news that doesn't require users to browse the "boring" part of the forum. Also, spice up your theme, get an eye-catching logo!
Hi can you help me a bit because I feel your feedback may be very constructive form an end user. 1) The theme is suppose to be debates and general discussions is there a way I can enhance that theme more? 2) What do you mean by lax rules? I'm not following you 3) #1 should be the theme 4) Ehh I spent a lot of time on the theme and we recently changed the logo. Have any suggestions on how to make it more eye catching? Thanks a bunch!
Okay.. as far as the LOOK of the site, you need to use color. White and light blue doesn't really cut it that much any more. You need some sort of excitement. Also, you need to narrow your field of speciality. "General" discussion doesn't really work because you will have users who are interested in different things and will not participate in discussions with anyone. Your site is not a failure, it just needs some work. You can get an idea of what I mean at my site, starcraft2forum.org
BY color do you mean maybe changing like the navigation links, link color, ect.? I cant think of how to make the general debates and discussions thing anymore narrower than it is. What do you mean by that too?
I meant whether you have active moderators and whether you can keep the environment family-friendly and spam-free. I would change your background color and the overall scheme of the website. Your logo would do okay, but you need to have a darker background so that the lighter logo stands out. You also need a homepage rather than just the forum index.
Your logo is very metallic. I would continue on that theme and go with a metallic blue, maybe a textured background. I would then also darken up your forums or at least make them not white. Lastly, like I said, you need a homepage. As far as your content, you really need to find a niche market. General discussion isn't really going to draw or keep all that many users.
OK a little clarification here Do you mean the white background or the dashed blue/white bg? As for as content do you think if I expand on entertainment and debates it could be successful?
As far as the backgrounds, both. As far as the content... you need to find a niche. Pick something... I don't know. I can't come up with the idea for you. All I can tell you is that what you have now is WAY too broad.
Yeah your right. Users said the theme was easy on the eyes and they like it the way it is. Others say they want a dark theme. Its personal preference I guess. I should try adding both and see what they think. I think a way to start the forum is expanding on the idea of "Debates" what I mean by that is like current events and issues too in there own categorie. Than comes the general forums...
