Every OS has flaws, vulnerabilities and is susceptible to malware. Just because nobody writes them for OS X doesn't mean that it isn't possible....wait a few years :p

I can't see a full UNIX command line being "for kids".

And I do run an AVP on my mac, to ensure that I never pass viruses on to users of windows machines.

For me it's Windows, But the simple reason is because I haven't used a Mac for years now. But I've heard Macs are only good for Multimedia.

You're completely mistaken. Though it may have something to do with the market share, this likely has little significance as to the number of viruses released for the operating system. The fact of the matter is that OSX is inherently more secure than Windows by the very nature of its architecture. OSX is a unix system based of of I believe FreeBSD. And as well all know unix is always more secure than windows ;)

Whats more is the simple fact that open source based software tends to have a huge community of people releasing fixes to exploits/bugs long before they are taken advantage of. Fixes often arrive long before the exploit....

In the end though, it takes a pretty on the ball admin to make sure all his/her systems are up to date at all times.... Many exploits occur in either OS, long after the fix was already available.

OSX= Low Capability with several key programs. Vista = Dead Computer in general. The winner, OSX.

Im guessing he meant low compatibility. But there are many apps which remove this argument: Boot Camp, VMWare, Virtual PC, etc.

If he is talking about compatibility, that is no longer an issue.. There is nothing I cannot run on my Mac that I run on my PC... In fact, I can run things on my Mac I cannot run on my PC... ;)

There's some addons for common programs that apparently don't come for Mac...a few of my buddies have had trouble with that. BTW, when you say you can run anything on PC on Mac, are you talking about Crossover, or actual programs that have been designed for Mac?

I was a vista hater about 8 months ago when I got a new laptop. It was awful on it.

However, I've recently upgraded my computer with lots of new hardware and Vista runs like a dream. The only gripe I had with it was the User Account Control which I've permantly gotten rid off. Since then I've ran into no problems and it runs everything I put on there absolutely fine.

What I am saying is that I have an Intel processor, not a RISC. That said, I can run any intel based program natively, no, not with Crossover. I can run Windows Natively on my machine, no, not an emulator.. WINDOWS!!!!

Okay, what I thought you meant was that every program made for Windows also worked with OS X, and that's when I thought you were using crossover.

Not true, the only reason windows is currently attack more with viruses, etc is that there are more windows users. It was proven that is possible to rip through OSX also...someone was mad about the misconception that OSX was more secure and propmtly cut right through it. If it was based simply on the "nature of its architecture" then windows would chnage their architecture to fight against this.

I agree with j_o. If OSX had so many users that Windows have, of course there would be more viruses for OSX.

OS X has major compatibilty issues. I'll stick Vista or PCLOS.
