I just want my blog to appear on the search results of any search engines, and I was told to ping my blog to make it so. But still I am helpless. Can anyone explain step-by-step procedures to ping my blog, so that it can appear in search results.
If Wordpress it is setup for that out of the box. You can find your ping list under settings >> writing at the bottom. the rpc.pingomatic.com hits all of the major ones for you but you can add more if you want. Do a search for "ping list" here.
Just make an account in feedburner and activate the pingshot feature under 'optimize button'. Alternatively you can use autopinger.com
Is it quite safe to add a list, currently i only have the default one in place, i was going to add more but wasn't sure what is best to do?
Be careful with pinging as this can also have the reverse effect on your website. By default WP pinging options can destroy your blog! They ping services even on editing a post, so your calling the spider back for no reason. There are plugins to help with this, I remember one called Ultimate Pinger or something like that?
Add content on a regular basis and let wordpress do the pinging Find some relevant blogs and post relevant comments (no spam ) with the URL of your blog
