What is the best way to market your site: backlinks vs. keywords

What is the most important? Backlinks or Keywords? Personally, I think both are important. From what I understand, backlinks can help improve your PR, and good keywords make it possible for people to find you in searches.

Are there other things just as important? And what has helped you more when marketing your site? Keywords, Backlinks, or something else?

Well I think you have asked the wrong question "backlinks vs keywords" you generate backlinks using keywords as your anchor text. So both go hand in hand.. I hope this clears your concept a bit

Back links with Keyword that's the correct sentence, where you put your keyword only... and what u do with only back links with out keywords.

Both of them are required. Use Targeted keywords in your Anchor text..

 

You have to have a mixture of both.

Relevant backlinks with the keyword in it's anchortext thats the way to go.

 

Both of these concepts are CRUCIAL like it has been said before keywords are also used to create backlinks so they go hand in hand. I believe if you have great keywords that gets you a lot of searches it would help more than just heaps of backlinks but you need both if you want your website to be successful

You want a lot of backlinks with keywords as your anchor text, not one or the other

 

I try to make my Alexa the smallest as possible. It shows how many traffic you have...While PR can be raised artificially. For example you can even pay to increase your PR.

 

Totally agree with the sentiments expressed by earlier posters. Backlinks with very targeted keywords are the key to SEO... With the right niche, it's really the keywords of the backlink that count. So in a way, it's a question of targeted keywords via quality backlinks over quantity of links that's important. Best of luck and take care!

 

One thing doesn't exclude the other. Your traffic won't covert if you use the wrong keywords. You won't get serious organic traffic if you don't rank high. And you need backlinks for ranking high in the search engines. So as you see things are extremely related.

 

i have to agree with others above. title of this thread is confusing. you cannot build a site without having one or more keyword in mind and you cannot build backlinks without keyword. so both are tied togater

 

gotta agree with the above. without either of the 2 you have mentioned, nothing will work. You gotta do both to get the best results or else you'll just be somewhere in no man's land.

 

I think they both are equally important. One can't live without the other.

 

Keywords with backlinks that use keywords. If you get ranked for term that no one searches for it will not make you any money

 

You should always use a combination of both....

Keywords and back links play an important role in getting High PR. If you want back links and well PR then do the tactics like article submission,directory submission and link building. But when u r writing article the content must be unique, attractive to readers to read it
