excuse me for my ignorance, but what does fatwa mean? It sounds familiar, like some hateful religous thing. If that is the case, I would rather not watch the video and leave the religous hatred to the religous.

Did you ever stuck in a problem where you need a suggestion of your friends or colleagues. If yes, than the final conclusion you reach after suggestions/discussion is called fatwa. Just that suggesstions should be made by some authorized person(may be you authorize him to suggest you, not someone else who was just passing by) And it has nothing to do with hatred or love.
After watching the video, it appears the "fatwa" in this case says those that are "disbelievers" and have entered into a war against Islam are war criminals. I don't believe in Islam and I did serve my country in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Does that mean I am a "war criminal" as well? Are all the military men and women serving in OIF/OEF that don't believe in Islam war criminals? What about those that are Muslim but are serving in the military?
Sorry man, with all the respect to the sacrifices you have made the US military in Iraq didn't serve US at all. True Christians should never vote for a war (unlike Hillary, John Mc., Bush and etc. who voted for it), especially like this on Iraq. You cannot be against Jesus’ teaching of peace and love and be of a good service to America or anybody else. War and Jesus are incompatible. The war in Iraq is not serving America. It serves Satan. The sooner America realizes that the better for her.
I am not a Christian and didn't serve in OIF because of a religion, not to mention the fact that war was not "voted" on by the American people, Christian or not. So what does this fatwa say for me or those Muslims that served along side me? Should we watch our back now?

A Fatwa is an edict, requested by a Muslim man, to verify what course of action should be taken so that he doesn't break the rules of God. Sometimes, life takes a twisty-turvy turn, and the rules in this case may not be found anywhere. In such cases, a Mufti,an Islamic Scholar, is requested to provide a suggestion. That scholar studies the entire case, and in light of Islamic knowledge, and by taking into consideration previous fatwas from across the Islamic world, gives his opinion. Fatwas are not commands, but mere suggestions, so that the believer may not unknowingly commit a sin.
From watching the video, the "fatwa" did not seem like a suggestion. I got the feeling that it was in fact something more than a suggestion.
