Hello.. There are some domains that are at NameCheap and I can do a WHOIS search for them and see that the domains have MY Whois information listed, but the domains are NOT mine. These are domains I have sold months ago and I am actually wanting to reclaim them back as the domain names are put in my name, so technically speaking the domains belong to me and since I am taking obvious liability for the domains, I am wanting to get them back. The domains are locked though, so I can't transfer them to another registrar to reclaim them. I can't unlock them either since they're not in my account. I tried contacted NameCheap to see if they will unlock them, but they won't. Should I contact ICANN about this or is there any other method of regaining posession of the domain names? Although I did sell them, ownership still belongs to me. Records prove it. And if the domains are abused in anyway (spamming, etc), its my ass on the line considering that the records indicate I am the proper owner. So please do help me in the scenario with your suggestions. Thanks.
Email the buyer of the domain names and ask him to change the information. Otherwise email namecheap telling them they contain frudenlent information as they are not your domains anymore
Oh yes I can. It violates ICAAN's policies and also violates my own privacy rights.. I know of ways I can get the domains back but I am wondering of any effortless ways of getting them back, without finger cramps, etc?
I doubt very much that ICANN would get involved. They don't deal with personal issues. Contact Namecheap, and they should do something to get your details removed.
Its a pretty scumbag move IMHO...They probably don't know they aren't in their name and would change them in a second if they knew. Stealing them back isn't right..Why not be a decent guy and email them letting them know they need to edit the info? (as suggested)
how you can reclaim your names back ? they are not yours anymore, so the best thing you can do is buy them back
I guess the issue has been resolved since then? Folks, there's no way to know whether something illegal or what not has been committed since we don't have a full appreciation of all and any facts about this, unless one of the parties intimately involved speaks up.
This is extremely unethical. I sold a domain and the buyer didn't even bother to change the admin email. I can reclaim it at any time I want, but it's business. I am not a perfect preson but I can't steal from my customer.
