I hope this is the best section to put this!

Does anyone know of any good (or decent) sources to learn how to write a good press release? I'm looking more for cheap or free sources online to get a good start.

    Thanks!

Well I run a PR firm, so I know a lot about it. I have a site devoted to the subject at www.FreePressReleaseWriting.com. The site includes several templates.

When you look at other resources, check dates. I wouldn't look at anything over 5 years old at this point (and even that's pushing it). Press release writing has changed a good bit in the last few years, and that's especially true if you plan to distribute them online.

Thank you! I actually started to PM and ask you, but thought there may be others who would like to know as well. :)

Great blog filled with greatly, much needed information on press releases. I just got a bid back on a very popular outsourcing site for $400 to do a press release. That's what prompted me to looked for a way to write them myself. THanx for the information.

That seems pretty high for someone to be bidding. I mean, larger firms can easily charge that, but they don't need to put out bids for those kinds of gigs. Hopefully that price was for some level of decent distribution as well or something.

^^ $400? That's very expensive. Did they at least outline what "extras" you'll receive if you avail of their package?

Or you could just hire Jennifer. I used her and the work was excellent. :D
