When i get into non-competition markets, i can bring up to 500 hops and not see a single one converting. If i take products with 30+ gravity, i get bid costs of 0.50 just to be on the bottom of front page and i still convert at 1:250, losing 90% of my investment. I use 5-6 ad groups, i flushed broad match, all my keywords are "great 0.06" or "OK 0.12" min bid... Ive tested about 31 products by now. Such as Wii downloads, Multiple "cure your Y problem" or "learn X Sport/tongue" and now im pretty bored after losing 280$ on PPC and getting back 50$.... HOW do you guys manage it???
Yes, Mate I am not really successful with CB too, but at least I earn a little bit over what I spent though. This month April I spent 609 dollars on Adword by promoting CB only and I've earnt back 631 dollars. All my testing and hard working give me the profit of 22 dollars for a period of 22 days....haha 1 dollar aday. It is rediculous when you spent 600 to get 22 dollars profit, isn't it? :0
bah at least you made a profit, so you can start over without worrying. But at the moment im LOSING cash >.< so i have to raise my adwords skills ASAP.
Please paste it all here becuase honestly we cant say anything unless we know more about your keywords, your niche, your landing pages, your ads, the products. It seems as though you arent converting so its of no harm to you. The best way to learn isnt from ebooks, guides. Its taking constuctive critisism, and finding out what you are doing wrong, then fixing it. (AKA learning from your mistakes) If you want serious help post one of your most terrible campaigns here. You are using the wrong keywords and you are promoting the wrong products, don't you do keyword research? if an ad has little competition it means it is not profitable and if a product has low gravities like the ones you are promoting it means the products are not selling well. Pick a product with at least 25 as gravity and look for more competitive keywords like the "product name" and the "product name review"
I would agree with agbeyegbe. People who have the intention to buy online use keywords like 'product name' or 'product name review' because they're in the researching step of the buying process. If you offer the product or a review that suits their need they'll buy it.
Key to successful PPC campaign is keywords + ads + landing page. So let's start with the keywords. You have to use ONLY highly relevant keywords, which you would type if you were looking to buy something. Let's say if you are promoting digital point, then you should use: buy digital point digital point review digital point bonus purchase digital point Do you understand what I mean? Ads basically, copy your keywords, and the landing page has to deliver what the ad promises. That's it. To be honest, I didn't have much success with PPC, because it's really hard to get good profit.
Seriously, if you're struggling with PPC, I highly recommend the Slow Roller technique from Kyle and Carson's "Who Loves Money". It's $77, but it's worth it just for the Slow Roller chapter, and the parts on Niche and Market Research are just gold and you won't find that stuff anywhere... it's at wholovesmoney.com, by the way.
I took 45 min out of my time to do this for you so please read it. I got really tired so my spelling and grammar sucks. OK now lets break down one of your campaigns. Lets look at your nintendo Wii. NICHE Ok now let us first look at this Nintendo Wii niche. Let us look at the demographics. Now to my understanding those that play Nintendo are generally not those that are over 20 years of age. They are usually kids that are around 15 and under. The older they get the more they get into Xbox and Play station. So now already most of your visitors will most be under 15. Which is going to already be hard for you to convert, as they don’t have CC and would have to convince their parents. Not only that teens couldn’t care weather it legal or illegal so long as they get what they want. Also another thing, about this niche is that, you see people who are not willing to buy the games, are most likely not willing to buy a program to download the games. They would rather get it free off of torrents etc. So you MUST BE VERY CAREFULL with what keywords you bid upon in this kind of niche. KEYWORDS Now I looked at your keywords and I was like WTF you should know better. Those are Soo broad. It’s like bidding on “make money†in the money making niche. It may seem like a good idea but the people searching that are generally not looking for anything specific. None of your keywords contain the words buy, purchase, etc. Now YOU must have keywords with those phrases to be able to get good conversion with a market like this. Just because of free loaders. Your keywords just look like a newbie list. (I’m sorry if I sound harsh and mean, but its the truth) Instead go for keywords like “buy wii gamesâ€, or why don’t you bid on certain game keywords like "buy Mario for wii" these will convert a million times better. Do you see the difference between these keywords and the ones you are targeting? But also for this you will need to set up a landing page, so that it flows smoothly, because if you bid on a “Mario†keywords and the product page has nothing about it, its not going to convert, so you will have to set up your own pre sell for it to flow smoothly. AD Your ad seems ok, but the thing is you need to put something like buy, purchase or other buying phrases. Some thing better then “Sign up†because in this niche that isn’t going to cut it, again because of free loaders. SITE I’m sorry but I think you will need to pre sell first looking at the product page. Because it does absolutely no selling. So set up a review style page, because people aren’t going to whip out their CC with out a review they trust. Be very careful in that review and don’t be pushy. Just pretend your one of those restaurant reviewers. If you notice they never push anything. Be honest, list good things about a product, then list a minor small thing so people now you are truthful. Suggestions: If you seriously want too keep in the market create a nice landing page, then look for keywords that sound as if the visitor is in a “buying moodâ€. Do not look for free loaders. I think that’s the main reason this campaign failed. You didn’t pay attention to the customer purchasing life cycle. But honestly speaking I really suggest you leave this market, for now. Another side note: I told you before in another one of your threads that this industry isn’t about CTR, quality score, CPC. Its about people. You have to understand the people in any niche to make sales with it, then you must connect to them. Why do you think pro copywriters will ask you about the people in your industry? Because they know… It’s a people business… Now It took me about a half an hour to do this and I suggest you do this every time before promoting another product. Too me it seems as though you have a little doh to spend. So my advice to you is this: Take $100 put in an adwords account. THEN PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE find your self a niche that is hungry. Don’t be afraid of doing some research out side of the clickbank marketplace. It sometimes isn’t all about gravity… Then set up a PROFESSIONAL, unbiased review page of a few products. Like this http://www.thewealthyreview.com/ Then when you have found out about the niche, and have your landing page ready, breakdown the people that will buy your product. For example, are they smart? are they passionate? how do they think? how will they react to this landing page? How will they react to the price? How will they react to the sales letter? What about the heading? There are many other questions. And if you think after answering these its not going to work, then either change your site, or pick another product in that niche. Then SLOWLY launch your campaign. One product that I will recommend to you is Conversion Prophet. It took me 45 min to do this. So I hope you read it! Cheers, and take care. P.S. Good luck with your next endevour.
Several things I see ... Using the wrong keywords. Targeting groups that are more likely to use a torrent for a freebie and/or more likely to refund a purchase. If you need help with PPC go get "quit your day job" its free if you do a search. I think you can find it at five star affiliates. I bought it a few years back its good and helped me but i went back to natural search because my time spent was better for the returns I got.
LOL Dude you have not lost enough yet. I lost over $2,500.00 before getting it kind of right and probably another $1,500.00 till I got it mostly right (I think I made like $10.00 so your doing good) and I am still learning. The two niches you are using right now might seem a good idea at first due to popularity of both the Will & Skateboarding but these seem more what I would call discretionary products (things people do not need but would like). Given the current economy you should look to move into what people need. Next when you go to think about what to market.... take your own thoughts and throw them out.....often we try to pick what we like and not what our customers want..... this leads to tail chasing.... Next most people will jump in over their heads and lose their shirts.....when in fact you should work on something very small....get it to work....then expand and grow. Also jumping to 31 different products is basically wasting time....each time you start quit and restart puts you back to day one. If you want I have had some luck with a niche I would be willing to let you push. I am not saying it's cheap or easy... but I have made some nice sales and profits with it.... but my other stuff is taking away from this one so I cannot get into it as deeply as I would like and its sitting idle. Pm me if so.
I have checked the keyword traffic for things like "purchase" and "buy" on every product i tried to sell, and the result were "No matches.", meaning NO BODY had typed "Buy (myproduct name)" in the past 30 days on any major search engines.....Guess that would only work for very popular products, hence huge competition. Also i fear making a review page. i know nothing about domains, hosting, page uploading, and my artistic skills suck big time...I have problems making a proper Word project for my classes... Thanks for the tips guys, much more useful than the paid adwords e-books i have read.
google isnt going to give you traffic for every keyword. Theres no way. Generally speaking google will only track keywords if it has more than 200 searchs a day. Other wise no. Besides how will it harm you to set up a campaign like that? last i checked getting no impressions wont cost you any money. Just try it...
Im not using google, im using wordtracker. Wordtracker record any amount of searches, from 1 to millions. And ive got no clue how to make a "professional" landing page...i can barely use Word.
well niether do I, lol. I use website templates. Wealthy Affiliate offers great templates, and I use thiers. I edit with page breeze. Its free. Well page breeze is but wealthy affiliate isnt. They also have a website builder, you wont need to know html, and offer hosting. But you have to buy a domain. I suggest you try it out for a month. Just leave the hype and look at what they offer, if you think you need it then try it out... http://wealthyaffiliate.com/features.php
You can keep checking that traffic till the cows come home but IMHO you will be missing out on a small but converting segment of traffic that is not tracked or will show results that are rather rewarding. Thats ok don't bother using buy or purchase in the longtail it leaves more money for me and less diluted niches. WT is great but a tool is a tool and not all are perfect. I went out on a hunch and tend to pick up on these words and they convert really well ... enough said.
