The deal is I run a membership website but I have zero revenue. I gave out over 30 free memberships but I ran out of money for marketing and advertising so after three months I decided to sell it. What I want to know is will I be able to sell it because I don't profit from it whatsoever and I'm paying 50$/month for a VPS. I paid 230$ for aMember Pro license, 150$ for hosting, 120$ for digital goods and 10$ for a domain. That's 510$. I would like to get the money back but I know I won't and I'm willing to lower the price a lot. Am I asking too much? I mean, this could be a real opportunity for someone who knows what he's doing and has a strategy or should I just let it die?
Would you buy a site without profit ? Maybe yes if it has potential ..... try in the buy sell trade section
If you can pitch it in the buy/sell forum you probably could get your money back.. Without this post you could have made money if you can really pitch it.
You might be able to get some of your money back, but nobody is going to reimburse you for what you spent on hosting. The only thing you're offering right now is the framework for a site. Whoever buys your site is going to have to put a lot of work in to build up membership and figure out how to turn a profit. This is going to decrease your sites value by quite a bit. If you're willing to hang on to the site for a little while longer and switch to a free membership with advertisements module. You'll probably increase the site's value because you'll receive more signups and will then be able to give any buyers a membership base to work with. I'd switch to a shared host too since you don't have the traffic to justify the cost of a VPS.
As i know.. Google bought youtube when youtube dont have any revenue yet. Because youtube have a great potential. So., it depend whether your website have the potential or not.
Course you can... it is called a Turnkey Site mate, at www.sitepoint.com/marketplace they have there own section for sites like that. Give something that people will buy though. Think to yourself, what if I wanted to buy the website, how much would you offer and what potential do you think it has!
Exactly. You are not going to get what you 'want' out of it based of 'potential'. But you may be able to recoup some of your expenses. But as some one else mentioned. Your best bet is to get it making money before flipping it.
I wish I could tell you it will sell but, It won't. Cut your losses And stop any monthly payments. If the site has a pre-paid or Free e-mail use it. If the site has pre-paid or free forwarding, Use it to promote an affiliate site. You may in a year be able to Recover your investment this way. Good Luck, Hope I am wrong. Karl
I think you can be able to sell it but you will hardly get good price unless some one find your domain name excellent.
