I run several websites and have a monthly mailing of about 800 users, and am about to expand that (all opt in). Right now I just use gmail manually, but am considering something with more features. Where can i find the best options, price (free on up) and features. thanks!

AWeber.com is the best for your list size. Costs about $120/year if you pay for 12 months at a time.

If you want a heavy duty one though, go for ExactTarget.com, but you're looking at about $5-$10k per year, so it's only worth it when you get thousands of subscrubers.

Hm... thanks! Seems it should work for me as well. I just have thought to find a way to create a mailing list with subscribe/unsubscribe options for my visitors.

Have you been able to upload your current list without an new optin?

Same kind of question for PHPlist script: is the process of uploading your current list easy?

I utilize Aweber as well. I think that they are great. I rarely get blocked by spam blockers utilizing their service. Now of course it is a double optin service though. So if you are sending spam, it may not be the best thing for you.

People may be reluctant to go through a new optin process without sending spam

+1 for AWeber if you are looking for auto-responder type solution. I was using both - AWeber and my own software. There are lot of problems with using own software, because of tracing dad addresses, managing large number of campaigns. So don't make my mistake and use some online solution from the very beginning.

I would like to add that I highly recommend aweber. Not only is the program good and has great delivery rates. You get on their e-mail list and they send you training emails every couple of days. I don't like to read 30 pages of instructions but when I get a little helpful blub it really helped me out.
