i don't think so. My site is started ranking within 2 months after domain registration to optimization. But you have to make atleast 100 backlinks in a month

My sites seem to rank much more quickly on Yahoo than Google. I think Yahoo takes notice of backlinks more quickly.

That's interesting. I applied from what I learnt here to to my websites and Google noticed me first rather than the other search engines.

I have no luck at all in getting high in Yahoo's results. Maybe they do sandbox but I have never heard of it. It might explain my problems though.

I don't believe so, as my sites are ranked in Yahoo and sometimes never to be found in Google.

I have the opposite problem, I now rank number 5 in google for a term I optimize for but I get no love what so ever from yahoo. Those bastards should have sold to microsoft but that is another rant.

I've never encountered a Yahoo sandbox, but often get trapped in a Google sandbox with the same webpage. It seems that Yahoo loves links, even unrelevant links...the more the better. Anchor text links are what Yahoo craves.

I have seen that Yahoo down weight sites (sandboxes) sites/pages. It doesn't happen as often as with Google, however once you are down it seems like it is really hard to move up again
