Dear all Friends! I am new is this fields. I always want to promote my site to other free sites to get some visitors. Yesterday, I have found and new website named http://borolook.com which have more than 12000+ free directories list. Dear friends! I just want to submit my website to all of them if you recommended it. I don't know what will be the result from it. Please help me. I also tried to copy the URLs from its result page for further submission from my own local disk without opening the www.borolook.com again. But, I have not found any hyperlinks that redirect me to the free directories website. If anyone teaches me how I can copy some URLs from the result page, I will be very grateful. Thanks
Will not help much. Instead of going for free directory links go for good quality links. That will definitely help. Regards, ASHISH T.
I agree with PuneetJvw. Those "free" directories are probably tied to FFA's, link farms and other "undesirable sites."
Dear friend! Thank you for giving your intention about borolook.com. I have seen up to 38 pages on the result page from borolook. But, I have not found any FFA or Firm website on it. Have you seen after 38 pages of it? Can you let me know what kind of website are listed after 38 pages? Are there included useful directory website? Thanks
I said probably...scan beyond 38 pages, no??? I don't like using auto-submitters because you get a lot worthless spam. Build quality links and start off on the right track.
Honestly, if you are looking for real quality links, directories are not the way to go. However, if you just want to build some generic link equity, it couldn't hurt.
Is it still true that any one way link helps? I've read via unofficial sources that some one way links can hurt your rankings and damadge your reputation with the search engines. It seems fundamentally unfair but has anyone experienced this kind of penality? Could you end up in the Google Sandbox for submitting to the wrong site? Thanks.

Are there 12000 free directories in the world? Directorycritic only has around 2000, and most others only have around 1000. I'm really wondering whether there are more than 5000 free directories in this world now.
quality over quantity. submitting to 12k dirs will result in a negative effect for 1) building so many backlinks so quickly and 2) building so many backlinks so quickly which are CRAP quality links
having a list of 10'000+ directory has the advantage of being able to chose the best for your site and to select those who have at least "some" PR taking all combined languages there probable are far more than 10k directories ( I use some 1000 foreign language dirs myself - or at lease select among 1000) and the approx 4000 dirs I have in use, I know that all I have visited so far exist and all have NO link farming / FFA NOR automated submission but use one of the commonly used directory SW with commonly default directory structure. hence my conclusion the greater the choice of directories the more likely you can split them into precise niches/languages to find at least a few hundred or so really useful for your site or deep link pages to get some basic number of relevant backlinks. most have PR0 hence I use those of PR2-3 or higher and always start with the few ones PR5 or better my promotion strategy with directories is to: use the top PR directories for site/domain-index promotion of my many thousand pages split into more than a dozen major trafic sub-sections ( each sub-section having average of approx 1k uv/d or more ) use the other directories of PR 3-4 to promote some of my high traffic sub-sections of my site and combine above in those directories allowing 2 or 3 entries rarely or never I use directories with PR2 or below directory owners FIRST have to prove consistency and persistence in providing real quality links
