I need hosting with the capacity to host 10,000 videos initially, eventually 100,000 though I could possibly migrate to a larger host further down the line. Can anyone make any recommendations? Thanks, Jackson

With that many videos you will need lot's of space and bandwidth. And you would defiantly need a dedicated server. - Prilep
Regarding how much space and bandwidth you might need, you'll have to calculate as follows: 1) Space: number of videos x average video size e.g. 50000 x 4MB = 200 000 MB 2) Bandwidth: number of video views x average video size e.g. 5000 views x 4MB =20 000 MB
You wont need A dedicated server, you will need dedicated serverS for that kind of website. You have got to be joking if you are looking for a shared hosting account for $10 for this. You'll be looking at spending $1,000 or more a month to have a nice setup.

You need a dedicated server. What's your space/bandwidth requirements and we'll try figure something out
How much Bw and space do you use now? If these are copy righted videos then you will need a data center out of the United States and most others country's.. Other wise you risk being shut down for hosting copy righted material and no refunds and possible law suits. Don't go for a shared account..or a vps you will need a good dedicated server with good quality bandwidth.
Youtube is hosted in US, Streaming videos really don't have problems unless it has porn. I think a person whose starting new business, shouldn't just run for $200-$300 dedicated server. He should upgrade with the traffic and earnings he gets. Regards

What is the average size for a music video? In the this thread, 4MB was mentioned. But looking on YouTube and Myspace, it appears to be more like 12MB?
IF you plan on streaming all those videos then you will need at least a mid-end dedicated server to start off with. Eventually you will need more.

I guess I am not understanding how you can offer this for 5.00 a month.. With the amount of resources that he is going to need and use, it will consume the whole server.. He needs his own dedicated server, I would go with a dual core min... Plus if he is going to host the music, and videos you need to make sure you are not violating copyright laws..

Its not the streaming videos that is a problem it is the copy right violations that occur with them.. Yes youtube is in the USA and the min that they get a DMCA complaint that there is a video violating the copy right laws they remove it.
