Can URL Masking affecrs search engine ranking. For e.g. if I have 2 domain names as domain1 and domain2. If both having single site on same IP but only domain1 has indexed by Google but domain2 still not cached by Google. Can it harm current ranking of my site? Please help! Regards, Sumit Kumar
I think URL masking is fine if you only have one set of content, otherwise it might get treated as duplicate content. Can you explain your situation a little bit more?
Yes, it will be panelized by G, because the same content of the website , Google understand as duplicate sites and can banned both of the website.
I have single site running on 2 domains with same content and image. Each and everything is same. But domain1 is not cached by Google while domain2 is regularly caching by Google. I know, Google panelized in case if it cached both sites. But in my case 1 is indexed while other is not. Now please tell me the solution.
as mentioned, i assume that although they share the same ip, the content is not the same? Dave -www.getbiz.co.uk
Yes! You are right DaveJo. This is the same case as you picked. So have you answer of my question. Will it harm my search engine ranking?
I am wondering if my domain-forwarding from GoDaddy is somehow affecting my sales. I simply purchased a catchy domain name from GoDaddy and forwarded it to my less-attractive URL provided by the company I am working with. Even with a lot of advertising and ad campaigns I am not doing very well, and I wonder if the forwarding has something to do with it. Is this affecting my search results? Am I not being found because of the forwarding?
here can be good reasons to use URL masking. And it can be misused. avoid it if you don't feel any urgency. It is not a good action for website promotion.
