I've been doing stuff like this on and off since 1997 not the past 5-6 years. Please stop bothering me. Please?

QDF = Query Deserves Freshness (Note the bold)

Not all queries deserve freshness, for instance an earthquake in California would be subject to QDF because people searching related queries are likely looking for fresh content/news rather then past earthquake information in that area.

Google uses signals from search patterns to determine exactly "what" deserves freshness. So your niche may never or rarely be subject to QDF despite pumping news articles out all day.

So that's how QDF effects SERP's.

Sorry to derail the argument with a topical reply lol!

    ROFLMAO

Thanks bud. My website is at http://threewaylinkexchange.110mb.com. It has different categories for different types of business sites. It already has Google Adsense in it. The content adjusts to the context of each page that the script is in. I was thinking about adding relevant rss news feeds to the pages but was wondering whether it would help with QDF and positioning. Someone posted somewhere that QDF helped with positioning and I wasn't sure how.

Yes, sweetfunny, absolutely. I've used that strategy for years, and it works well. Every time I add a new inner page, I put a link to it on my home page in a section of the home page that I call "Recent...". What that does is, as the old saying goes, "kill two birds with one stone":

    1) I get a very natural-looking refreshing of my home page by adding the link to a new, inner page.
    2) Since the home page is frequently crawled, I get the extra benefit of getting the new page crawled and indexed pretty quickly.

I agree with Ssandecki's emphasis elsewhere in this thread (which agrees with what Google recommends). And that is to write copy for the readers, not for the search engines. I'm just a trusting enough guy (some might say naive :) ) to think that if Google recommends that, they just might have tweaks in their algorithm to recognize and reward "natural" practices like that, in contrast to SEO-only-oriented practices that really have value only to the webmaster, but not necessarily to the readers.

Arnett, no disrespect to your thread. But as an old guy (64) with some moderate success in webmastering, I would encourage spirited dialogue on Digital Point, but don't take disagreements personally. And don't let posts with opposing opinions deflect you from dialoguing on the issue. Once you personalize the discussion, the threads tend to turn ad hominem, rather than topic-focused.

There are some well-versed technicians on DP (e.g., Ssandecki and sweetfunny in this thread) who have a lot to add. I may be one of the ten oldest regular posters in this forum. But I find that, even to this day, I continue to learn as much (or maybe more :) ) than I add to the forum. I will not at all be surprised to find that I learn from you, too. Hang in there, and keep posting.

Thanks for your input. I noticed from your signatures in your post that you are a Christian. I should have thought more like Barnabas and been more encouraging than critical. I'm studying Acts BTW.

Anyway, I'm trying to determine whether the QDF algo can be used to boost position or not and if so then how to.
