SEO suggestions about a directory

If you have a directory and you want to give it a good position in serp, what do you do?

I wrote a description for all categories, I wrote some inner pages, I submitted it in some directories, I worte some reviews about it.

Other good suggestions?

 

Web directories are hard to promote since their are litterally thousands of them. The method I would consider using is requiring a backlink from each website listed in the directory. Now, depending on the category someone is listed in you have them backlink to THAT category with the proper keyword\phrase to make it appear in search results. This will help increase the actual searchers who will use your site to find other websites of interest and in turn make your web directory popular.

 

back link is the king to make your site have a good position.

 

To improve search results ranking, build relevant + quality back links.

Build relevant content? I'm thinking to write relevant content about directory (the directory is in italian), but it's a very particular topic...

I wrote the guidelines, I wrote the regulations. I must to find other ideas.

 

I will highly advice you to NOT start a directory or atleast read the thread first. Google is whipping directories and its impossible to make them rank for anything now.
