A web hosting affiliate program that pays per lead for free trial. Will it work?

    Hi,

Most discount web hosting companies like hostmonster, etc. pay around $100 per sale. If you send them any type of volume its very easy to get up to $125-150/sale. Here is a list of companies that pay in the $100/sale range on this review site..

I too run a web hosting company that pays $100/sale. Yet since I'm a smaller host, it is hard to get any traction when all the big hosting companies also pay $100/sale.

If I were to offer a "3 month free trial offer" to potential clients, and require a credit card to receive the offer, I assume my sign-ups will sky rocket. Yet, I'm not guaranteed that they will convert to actual paid sales in 90 days from now. Therefore, how much do you think I could pay for each of these leads?
I assume it will depends on how many of them actually convert to paid sales.

Yet, do you think potential affiliates would even like being paid per lead versus per sale? I think this type of pay per lead type program could be very attractive for web sites like the above "top-10-web-hosting.com", since I know no other pay per lead programs that even exist.

    I was thinking like $10/lead.

    What do you think?

    Regards,

    Wyatt

Make BLOODY sure that the leads convert, or you'll be out of more money than you could imagine faster than you could imagine.

People that promote with leads either have a lot of marketing capital available, or know for a fact that a certain amount of leads = conversion.

Make sure that you have a set limit on how many leads you'll honor in a period. If you leave it at unlimited, and the marketer is good at finding sources of visitors, even if it's truly bad quality visitors, you'll be wishing you were doing pay per sale instead. So many marketing networks have been taken down by irresponsible pay per lead publishers and unscrupulous pay per lead advertisers

You need to make sure this doesn't burn you. If you set up $10 per lead, you need to make sure that you can verify every single lead by phone, or many "affiliate marketers" will send you false ones.

You could also add another condition to your program, by telling affiliates that every 10 leads need to convert into 1 sale at least. This is a construction many other lead programs opt for...
