There's a few small design errors Mikey, other than that it looks good. :)

I haven't had chance to check IE6 yet. Firefox 3.0 BETA everything looks good.

The site is slow because of the amount of images it uses. I'm sure the owners are aware of this and perhaps are aiming at the long term when internet connection speeds up?

    Download Times*
    Connection Rate Download Time
    14.4K 359.51 seconds
    28.8K 184.35 seconds
    33.6K 159.33 seconds
    56K 99.28 seconds
    ISDN 128K 36.79 seconds
    T1 1.44Mbps 11.59 seconds

As an0n remarked in one post there is a lag on this test but the sheer weight of graphics here will always slow it down. Compressing them will fix that a little.

Speed highlighted in red should be nearer the 8 second mark max so quite a bit of work to do here. Gonna do a review on it after I've finished with a few requests. :)

So I guess I have fast net provider as it was 3.63 seconds to load quobe fully for me :D.
My point goes to designer. Nice job. Even if some errors in display - always easily can be fixed. Even making super w3c clean html - is nearly always possible.

What software did you use to get that speed dargre? 'Stopwatch'? And was it AFTER loading it into your cache? I checked using some of the industry's leading independent tests, and even after taking into account the lag that can be caused you'd never get to that speed. I did put it into cache and get 3.8 seconds on a T1 connection though which shows to me that at least some gif crunching has gone on. That can only be good.

It does show a few warnings but nothing that can't be fixed and I quite like it. Get the inner pages optimized to the level of the front and then I'd be well pleased for the owner. :)

Did you mean making w3c html was always possible or impossible?

Its a Firefix plug-in called FasterFox

when I visited it loaded in 2.61 seconds.

Seriously, that tool you use to measure is something I wouldn't use to gauge anything, even if you paid me to.

Also remember, that a site loads in x seconds, but the browser still has to render it.

    Thanks for the pointer.

What you have to realize is that 99% of the internet are not designers, not likely to use plugins such as these and DO get turned off by sites that are slow loading. You may well put down the site I use to test the load speed but taking into account every factor that it does its very honest and gives good valuable critique.

I plan to write to Andy King the founder of the site I use and get his view on what your opinions are after all the guy has been around quite some time and seems to know what he's on about. No doubt some of you here do as well but I like to take in opinions from all angles.

FasterMoz has a problem of 'pre-fetching' which the developer of FasterMoz openly admits can be an issue, there are also many other problems yet to be dealt with. Until then this tool should only be used by pro's who know what they are doing, that leaves me out.

Good tool but hugely misleading, I'm doing reviews to emulate how the site would be used by the ordinary Joe Public an0n, they would use a variant of i.e, that way you get a better and more relevant review because its the customer who the site should be designed not the fellow designer or directory owner.

Good find though, I'm going to use it for other purposes though. :)

    That's fair enough Jamie.

Glad the found usefulness with the plug-in.
