I see that you have already made a post in that thread.
That will at least stop him from selling the script in this forum. Did you report the thread to a mod ?
I am sure they will close the thread once they find out.

Yes, you can report the thread to a MOD.... if this is your script and you have rights of it and it is not a free script then it is obviously illegal to sell it at DP or anywhere, be sure you have all the proofs to show to Mod that the Script belongs to you originally, Mod may ask for that before issuing infractions and banning that guy.

Report the thread and user info to the mods and provide proof of ownership of the script so they can take necessary actions.

I've noticed that lots of people try to sell scripts that don't belong to them. I actually almost purchased a script a few days ago but then I did further research and a link brought me to this site where the original owner of the script was complaining about other people stealing his work. The funny thing is, the person that had no rights to re-sell the script was selling it for more than double the price of the actual owner.

I reported this earlier today to a mod here at DP and this was their response:

"Mods don't get involved in members' business."

That can't be correct. Does that mean DP would continue to promote this illegal activity?

I would surely love to hear what a moderator has to say concerning that response. If they say mods don't get involved with members business, then illegal activity would continue to grow within these forums. And what the hell is a forum that does nothing to stop these illegal acts?

collection of good advices to past threads and reports regarding copyright issues:

it appears you can report the whole thing to a mod.

PS: you owe me for using the most forgotten DP's "search function" for you :p

hehe nice job Kuang. I think Mods will close that thread for your if you really the owner of the script, but they maynot punish that user for you. Wish you good luck with your script. :D

That is correct. If mods banned every member who scammed someone, they would have a whole load of extrawork to do.

You should contact the member themself.

Why doesn't php authors take the time to encrypt the work they do? I understand and in the past have had lots of work stolen from me. One reason why when I create something to sell I am going to encrypt/license!

Which makes it near impossible to edit, and stops most people using it. Also, if you have encrypted code, its not going to stop someone from selling that....

maybe you can do a blog about this. when people thinking of buying script or service whatever they usually do a google search first for that particular script, service whatever. If you can make your blog in the first page for the keyword name of the script, which should be easy since you are the owner of the script, then you can warn people about the thief and inform them to buy the script from you

Template engines allow users to modify the template without giving them access to the php code. Tie the encryption into a domain license software and then you can stop a big percentage from stealing or selling the php software. I find from running a php software company, that has been stolen from more then once, that most people will just want to edit the template and those that are selling the software don't know much about php, html, etc in the first place. Those are the people that are reselling it. Those that do know php, html, etc are changing it up to resell as their own software. Lets face it, unless we encrypt and domain license the code it makes it that much easier for thiefs to do this and the mentality of people that don't want to buy something encrypted I would say they are the ones that go as far as steal the code. Encryption/Domain licensing isn't fool proof they still can be hacked by hex editors, but it will at least prevent most novices from stealing code. This is where if a buyer don't like encrypted / licensed php software then I'll look at them crossed eyed and basically tell them bug off then.

Out of the last 5 php software packages I have sold on the web, all 5 of them have been stolen by novices that claim to have resell rights to it (when no resell rights was sold to anyone) and/or the php code "barrowed" for the same type of application being sold by an experienced php coder. I don't have millions of dollars, heck I don't even have 1000 of dollars to my name at any given time. You can't sue them without $$ for a $4000 retainer fee and a $250 an hour lawyer to take your case to a judge and if they are in another country then you defiantly can't touch them without major green. What these people don't understand is I am not in it to make millions (would be great, but..) I am in it to help maybe pay rent once in a while, or car payment ever so often, cloths for the kids, or just food for a few days for my kids and wife.

The thread is closed. Usually dont delete them, just close them out.

Best thing to do is to get the word out and leave some negative reputation to help warn other members that this member sucks.

Mods dont get usually get involved with stuff like this but I have been a victim of this before and I know it sucks. So if proof can be given I will take my time and look into it.
