PageRank is very useful for me. I do not exchange links. I found out all my high traffic pages have better PR. I like my sites PR.
I don't think PR has anything to do with SERPs though you may achieve nice PR while trying to improve the SERPs. Give a try to..........
I think you may be confusing cause and effect. Pages with good backlinks get more traffic. Pages with good backlinks get higher PR. The more traffic is not necessarily directly connected with the PR, unless you are specifically saying that the pages with higher PR are doing better in serps and that is where the traffic is coming from.
PageRank is not related to traffic, having a high page rank means that your site is well respected by google, and google may index your site more often than they will index a site with pr 0. You will not get tons of traffic simply because you have a high page rank, there are many sites on the net with pagerank 6 and 7 that do not get very much traffic.
Most websites that have hight rankings in google have high pr, which is why I always like seeing my pr increase. __________________ Lake Michigan Real Estate
How true! This is seriously true. PageRank is not top concern for publishers, although it is useful, can't decline that.
PageRank is a good indicator of traffic potential... I noticed that a good percentage of my traffic to my latest blog comes from a PR6 blog... it just shows that higher PR is worth something...
Okay, that explains why recently I've noticed affiliates caring more about Alexa rank than Google PR. A year ago Alexa was considered fluff by some, now it will make or break me getting into an affiliate company. I also just came across a site with an okay alexa ranking and no PR which in the past wouldn't have seemed possible. Is my assessment right?
Alexa is pretty much a stats counter, so all based on traffic and you dont need pr to get traffic... so you can buy a new domain today and if say you bought traffic for it then you could have a high alexa rank in a few days, its always been the same way now or 5 years ago.
I'd love to see your research Angilina. Please post such details, with links to Google searches as proof What you may believe to be a page with PR0 or PR N/A (as shown by the Toolbar) may in fact be PR10 for all we know - you won't know until around 3 months later when the outdated PR is exported to the toolbar. Thus, any such claims are ludicrous.
PR as most people already explained is just an indication of how well respected a page is by google The more incoming Links a page has the more traffic can have even if the pagerank is 0. Alexa is a VERY rough indication of traffic don't bet anything on it I have a site with 580K alexa that gets 1000 visitors a day and another one that has 240K alexa but only gets 100 visitors a day and that is the case for the last 6 months I would use Compete.com for more reasonable traffic estimations
It's upon own thinking and work, Still PR is the one of the most popular and strong algo. We can get better results without pr also in SERP... But Top SERP's + High PR = Successfull SEO...
