I have been trying to find out, in SEO terms, not page load times, what is better Absolute internal linking or Relative linking. I was having a look at the seocontest2008 top 10 and they virtually all use Absolute linking. So I am thinking that google does give you a better serp if you use Absolute linking. Does anyone agree/disagree or is it just a coincidence or does someone have some other ideas?
It really should not matter much at all IMO. I use absolute linking mostly out of habit--but I would be interested in hearing others' opinions on this. Eric
go with absolute linking. i've read it a bunch of times, just don't have time to search for a quote right now
It really should not make a difference...but "shouldn't" isn't as powerful as "doesn't", which has never been proven. I think, particularly for the home page, using the absoulte URL (just the domain) is definitely worth doing rather than /index.html (for example).
As per my own experience, google always gives more weight to absolute linking than relative linking...If you are using absolute linking ,Google picks the internal URLs from your site when you check your backlinks.
