No one know the correct answer for this question. I have a website with 12000+ back links, including PR6 back links, and its a PR2.

On the other hand, I have another website with 3000 back links and its a PR 3.

No one can tell you how many back links you need for a PR 3.

Anyway, why you want a PR3?

Why get links from only PR1 and PR2 pages? This seems silly to me - you should try for links from pages with a higher PR. Also, don't focus so much on your PageRank - instead, look for ways to increase your ranking in the search engine results pages.

Yes, but it isn't the only, nor necessarily the most important, factor relating to your position in the SERP's.

Be wary about the PageRank toolbar, as it can be quite different to your "real" PageRank.

Furthermore, never rely solely on PageRank. I know several SEO consultant's who don't even take PageRank into consideration.

I think google counts only quality links not quantity links.

make sure that your backlinks are relevant to your page. links from sites that have nothing to do with yours could be penalized by google.

Backlink doesn't help if they are not from related site or related stuffs . If u r having tech blog and u r exchanging links with jokes and other content related site it will not help u as far as my knowledge says .

U need back links from related sites and quality content .

depends on quality i believe. just 5-10 links of 3, but exactly same niche will get you there, and same on i believe there must be 50, but still work on niche will get you .. i am not a astrologist.

Keep in mind that the amount of PageRank passed on by any link is approximately equal to the PageRank score of the page where the link resides divided by the number of links on that page. So simple formulas like "87,291 links from a PR1 page" badly misrepresent the PageRank system.

Don't worry so much about PR. Its really just a bi-product of quality link building.

If you perform regular link building, the PR will come naturally. You should be thinking about

link building -> ranking -> PR

    Not the other way around.

    Good luck.
