Fun stuff on the west coast (usa)?

I'll be spending about two months on the west coast of the USA (Los Angeles) and I was wondering what I can visit to entertain myself and the people I travel with?
Obviously I know about Las Vegas, Hollywood and such. I've also done some research and have some basic knowledge, but asking people that experienced it is always better :) Any cool native things I can visit or real american experiences?

If you want to travel a little, Lake Tahoe is awesome, beautiful and next to Reno, you can hang out at the lake during the day and then cross into Reno at night to go to the casinos.

Carmel is really nice but touristy

San Fransisco is awsome if you get a chance to drive up.

Lake Tahoe should be nice yeah, adding that to the list. I'll see if I can fit in San Francisco. Never heard of Carmel, but I'll go look it up right now. Thanks :)

Don't know about Disneyland yet. I love Zoo's tho, so I'll see if I can fit that in. Isn't there a Seaworld in San Diego aswell?
