No difference will be made unless someone steals the source for Vista and hangs it over microsofts head to migrate its users back to XP and ditch vista.

    Not going to happen

Great, I have had 3 BSODS in 1 day - coincidence? Naaw - its just Vista.

I don't think you people get it.The problem with Vista is that it gets people what Microsoft wants to do it is limiting the freedom of the users trying to stop DVD Ripping. Stop all kinds of piracy. Microsoft has got the upper hand at this matter because its got no strong competition. Apple is targets much of the American and European audience and doesn't bother about the rest of the world.Well, Linux is not up to the mark I being a tech savvy find Ubuntu a bit difficult to use you got to type in codes to make a Internet connection and enable and disable stuff How many people do you think will get all of this to work.Windows on the other hand takes advantage of the situation and has made the perfect OS that reduces the need of typing in any codes and makes it all GUI based and people find this easy.

What I am trying to say is that Vista is just too much into Graphics it is not to ease on the average user but to limit him from crossing the limits.Linux is the opposite of all this it is very programmer friendly and the average user just can't get it to run. Here is where XP comes in it is the perfect combo of Graphics and commands.Any newbie user just can't point these out because he/she was just using his/her system to do basic things like checking mail or looking for job opportunities or working on the net they just don't bother.

    Let me cite an example.
User 'A' uses his computer for checking mail, keep himself updated and working. He doesn't care that Firefox is better than IE he just uses IE because it came with his OS whether he is happy or not he still uses it he doesn't even know that there is some other browser called Firefox and it delivers faster performance in fact he may not even know what is a web browser. He needs everything to stay where it is a slight change of position and he doesn't know where the file is.

So,guessing by the replies you gave in this thread I assume that you people are a bit into tech but just users like A.

A computer is a tool and a tool must be maxed out. That is what high end users do.

95% of all software used is pirated.People who get themselves assembled PCs don't even know that they have to pay for them.If you ended up paying for all the software you are using then you would be bankrupt.

Note:In the above context Graphics is not eye candy but it is a GUI.

Hope this brought some awareness among you people.

I think it's a bitter sweet thing. However, I'm going to be using Ubuntu full time pretty soon so it doesn't matter to me very much.

    Let me just say this...

-Xp was far the best windows OS since 3.1
-Vista sucks and isn't even complete. Just look at all the law suits.

Did you even read what Microsoft is doing?

They are ending the sales of XP this summer.

But support for XP will continue until 2014.

that is old news but heartbreaking too...

I wish they could continue to support XP else people will be forced to use the pirated version..

I guess it was a bit too early because you know people still haven't really got their machines ready for vista etc. and yes vista still needs some tweaking and bug fixing because there still are a lot things to do. So, IMO its a bit too early for XP to go off market :/

Well, nobody is going to stop you running WinXP after that date.
Hopefully hackers will be busy enough to exploit Vista and Windows Seven by that time ;)

They extended the deadline to 2010... kinda

It will be a ultra low quality Xp for computers like the EEEPC

Getting rid of XP is a mistake because vista is inferior.

I wont say that Vista is inferior, but it is overkill with too many applications requiring a far more power PC rather than your existing PC.

There is nothing wrong with vista. Get a good hardware and everything should be okay. Its friggin' 2008 you expect them not to drop XP? Lol. There is nothing wrong with vista so don't be paranoid. This online argument is getting silly. It's not like XP and vista have completely different components. Vista could be XP in a minute and vice versa. Sign a petition for better Microsoft service. Microsoft sees this as business. Some things come and some things go thats life. Get XP before it stops selling for Pete's sake...?

    we have to move on..
Vista is performing better in my friends computers with min 1GB ram
almost all apps today require that much ram..so nothing to worry about..
Hope the SP of Vista caters to some current problems..
