AS technology increases as it has, we are able to drill deeper then ever before and find more oil. This find sort of counters the peak theory in oil which some of you on here support.

Oil is a fact of like, just like we need Oxygen to survive, we need oil to function as well.

lol, its funny to see a brazilian telling that the u.s. own a piece of shit in brazil.

Brazil have a fucking corrupted government(it's getting better), but our laws are way far from allowing a "country" to buy territory.

And Brazil isn't a jungle or something lol, it's just that some brazilian laws doesnt allow people to explore some areas(the majority usually respects it) so the north is like a jungle cuz almost nobody lives there(the quality of life there sucks) :p

So people usually live in southeast, take a look at our jungle:

Well, it's going to be shits funny if Bush tells that we don't have a democracy and is going to invade us cuz we produce shitloads of stuff(uranium) to make bombs :p

so you think Brazil is a free country? I'm sorry, but we are a very international country, there are very few national heavy industries, if all transnational companies decided to leave the country, we would be totally screwed, we have to face we are part of the third world, and that's not going to change anytime soon

Oh that means Bush will now focus on Brasil rather than on Iran......Brasil's army now have a tough task at their hands defending their homeland from american attack :D

Now this news should cool down spiralling crude oil prices

I repeat, there will most likely be no military intervention, Brazil depends economically of the USA, so Iran is probably the next "hit" by USA, imo :)

    CVRD, petrobras, braskem... ?

We really depend on the U.S.... U.S. crisis is really affecting brazil, after all, a 5% gdp growth predicted to this year means that Brazil is into a really deep recession.(ironic).

Brazil used to be REALLY dependant of the U.S. in the 90's and the begining of 2k, man i can talk hours about it, i know what i'm talking about because i'm really into it.(i'm a day trader).

And transnational industries arent gonna fucking leave the country as it makes profit for them, no matter how hard the crisis is in the U.S., they are making profit HERE.

Oh yea, we are a part of the third world, but i do have way more money than americans do and i travel abroad every 6 months, do you think that it matters to me?

Just a tip, read more the newspapers, i'm sure after reading it for a while you will figure out that you have better opportunities than americans do for making a fortune... if you are smart.

We might have more opportunities than them, but we depend on them, we depended on them during the 90's and we still do. It's a fact that the whole world's economy(with very few exceptions, Brazil is not one of them) is a reflection of the US economy.
And yeah, I know transnationals are not going to leave the country as much as I know US troops will not declare a war against us,

I might change my opinion if something really big happens to the world, but Brazil is a passive country, so I don't see that coming at least for a few years

Did you guys know we import more oil from Canada then from the whole middle east combined. If it was truly about oil we would have invaded Canada not Iraq. Plus Canadian oil is better since it has less sulfur.

Given the United States Daily consumption of oil, 22 million barrels a day (8 billion barrels a year) - that huge new find would only supply the U.S. oil demand for about 5 years - the clock is ticking - oil is yesterday's fuel.

Those SUV's are going to be worthless within the decade.

Oil is going to run out no matter how much new oil is discovered. Part of the US problem is that it also uses oil to heat homes.

Most of the homes are heated with natural gas, there are a lot of homes in the northwest that are heated with heating oil but the majority use natural gas

Not sure if your joking or not, but Canada is a large exporter of oil and the majority of it is piped into the United States

US heating oil consumption is approx 5% of total oil consumption. The Northeast uses 70% of the heating oil. Reduced heating oil use ease diesel prices as home hearing oil and diesel as basically the same thing.

I have read about the reserves sometime ago, but it seemed that it is very expensive to get at that oil even though the reserves may be there. Costs of drilling and exploration is too prohibitive. In terms of costs of production, the Opec nations still have the advantage of far cheaper cost of production per barrel of crude oil.
