Hi - my names Ben and im 16 years old. I just want to know where i stand legally in starting my own e-commence site. Obviously i am not allowed my own paypal account yet so would i be able to get a parent to do this for me and sign it in on their behalf? Also, as my parents will be doing the money sides of things can i still have my own name on the website if anyone wanted to contact me even though my parents will have their name on paypal/debit card. Thanks.
Include that you are a minor in the fine print part of your site, and say that all credentials and account, etc. are in your parents name. Also, make sure to ask you parents about this, because they might not want you to use their name online.
For paypal you will have to use a parents account. In terms of owning and operating your own e-commerce site if you are in the United States all contracts between you and your customers are considered valid even though your not 18 yet. So you can have your name on the website but paypal has it's own rules so you will still have to use a parents account until you turn 18.
There is absolutely no reason why you can't do this. Put it all under your parents names with permission and then you have no issues. Don't worry about putting that you are a minor on your site. That may deter visitors. Cheers!
you don't need this. have you ever heard of COD? they used this before credit cards. UPS will charge the customer at thier door.
Cash on Delivery might be one of the best options for you. You could surely have your own name on the website. There are no restrictions on that.
You're fine, just do it. I've been selling with Paypal since I was 13 and I'm British. I highly recommend not stating that you're a minor on the website as you'll seriously limit your business potential (I probably wouldn't order from a site saying that). So yeah, just get on with it.
Keep in mind that in US law, a parent has the right to void any contract entered into by a minor. So you might want to at least let your parents know you are doing it.
