    * 1 - Google is Becoming a Monopoly.
    Basically...but through being extremely popular combined with what could easily be called general business savvy. If google was as popular as other search engines most of what they do wouldn't even be looked at, but because they're at the top we chastise their moves? It's not their "fault" everyone goes to them first, so when they ban a site it's not 'evil google' pulling a site off the web, it's basically the vote of the masses. Your blabbering reminds me of the Barney boycott of years past. Everyone watched his shows so through that reasoning alone people wanted to ban it. Sheep.

    * 2 - Google is a Marketing Company.
    Sure, and here's another way to do it: They pull all of their advertisements and charge $30 a month. This is probably the most hypocritical of all of your statements. Most of you reading this are sucking on the Adsense teet, and love it when the adverts are tailored to your visitors because it means more dollars for you. So you freak out when Google itself does it?? If you have an ounce of sense you're collecting the same information from your visitors so if, say, you find most of your visitors are from France you should probably make a French version. Duh.

    Simpler still, you're going to get advertisements thrown at you. Would you rather they be for random crap or something you might actually want?

    * 3 - GMail (Unreliable, Insecure, & Spyware).
    Your line of reasoning behind what happens when it gets hacked is not specific to Gmail, so why even say it? What happens when your online banking gets hacked?? ZOMG! Boycott Bank of America!! Come the hell on.

    * 4 - Google’s Privacy Policies.
    In what regard?

    * 5 - The Invasive Google Toolbar.
    Now you're really stretching it. Advertisements are always bundled with other things. Pizza-Hut does it too...to the bandwagon! If you don't want it, don't install it. Otherwise it's an obvious and smart way to spread their product. Even after it's installed it's a failure if you don't use it, and if you do use it I guess one can assume you find it valuable. Either way, what's the harm??

    * 6 - Google Bought DoubleClick.
    I refer you to #2.

    * 7 - Blogger Steals Ad Revenue From It’s Own Bloggers.
    Not heard of it, can't comment.

    * 8 - Small AdSense Publishers are Treated Like Crap.
    No kidding! Just 5min browsing this forum and I can tell a huge percentage of the Adsense users are purely out to find ways to profit from the system. Most people are happy to glide along the razors edge of what's allowable under the TOS, many are happy to break it. Think about it from their perspective, I bet they spend huge amounts of resources dealing with shams and cheaters. There are hundreds of programs/services/black-hat companies out there that'll help you cheat it. So yeah, they're probably a bit jaded by all the cheaters out there. Frankly I wouldn't give a damn to help out some "blog" that's just a crap-hole of generic keywords and senseless posts designed only to get unsuspecting people to the website and click on the ads and considering people on the upper end of that genre build thousands of these pages, it's easy to see how your little site could get caught up in it too.

    * 9 - Webmasters Cannot Sell Links.
    No idea, can't comment. Was it an official Google stance, or just some guy who happens to work there?

    * 10 - Google is Becoming a Web Statistics Monopoly.
    Back to #1.

    ----

    Seriously, you have failed in every way to make a compelling case as to why anyone should boycott Google. Your strongest argument was that they're popular and make business moves to further their business. Unless you can add in that they burn babies to fuel their servers, your screams of injustice are completely unfounded. What's the real motive?

    I noticed the ad sharing thing on blogger...

    My ads kept changing colors, my regulars were blue, theirs had a red border...

    Nice post. Some interesting and valid points too...enough food for thought. However, I don't think there will be any great traction to support a boycott of Google. I think Google is where they are in this dominant position by excelling at what they do. They just do a very good job at what they do and that's why so many of us support them.

    Not many of us will opt to bite off our nose to spite our face.

    I use good because it brings better search results than any alternative search engine.
    3 - GMail (Unreliable, Insecure, & Spyware). -- People are loosing their email accounts because they are stupid and enter + save their passwords in the places where they shouldn't. Google has nothing to do with this.
    5 - The Invasive Google Toolbar. The Google Toolbar is bundled with many applications (Adobe products, Java, Firefox, etc) -- I'm sorry but where did you found firefox in google toolbar? If you don't like it, don't install it. I don't have any toolbars myself, only stumbleupon toolbar, which i use on IE. My default browser is firefox, i use IE just for stumbling.
    7 - Blogger Steals Ad Revenue From It’s Own Bloggers. -- I'm sorry but this is total crap. I use blogger and have never noticed something like that. Maybe becayse i dont use bloggers native widget with adsense? I use script bars for this. Even if google is rotating your ads on blogger, they do it to help Blogger project be live, how else is it making money for hosting all of your images and pages? Some blogs have more than million visiots a day, do you know how much would it cost to host it yourself?
    8 - Small AdSense Publishers are Treated Like Crap. -- True, but this is their fault. I used to cheat google adsense and got banned, then I decided to become a potentially big publisher an been accepted back. This depends on you how are you treated, like shit or not.
    9 - Webmasters Cannot Sell Links. -- If your website has been created to sell links on not for your high PR, you are using GOOGLE to raise the price of links on that site. Google is 100% right about this. Site should contain content, then they dont really care if you are selling links.
    10 - Google is Becoming a Web Statistics Monopoly. -- Google is investing money. Why you didn't mentioned that they are video monopoly because they bought YouTube? And google is tracking your friends, that why they bought MySpace.

    My opinion, google is doing everything right, you like it or not.
    best search engine for today.
    I will still use it.

    Bottom line google is the best out there because they put the systems in place and buy the best companies to make google even better.

    anybody that has a problem with google has a problem with success.

    rabbits are boycotting the Mountain.

    ( it derived from a well known Turkish proverb: Rabbit huffed mountain, but mountain was in complete ignorance )

    Good post my friend
    but there are lots of good aspects of google
    and there are a lot of good reasons why people that get banned.

    i do think blogger deal is kinda g@y
    but you can actually put your own code in the poste and not use the defeault adsense function
    other than that..i dont have problem with google.

    thanks for sharing tho..

    PS- btw i think DP rule is that you cant ask for greenies..
    thats what mods and admins told me and i read it in their rules.
    may be i am wrong tho..

    Yes, Google has many good aspects, but everything assumes to be good only within reasonable limits. But Google goes the limit, and it will have its bad results on Internet future advancement. Web3.0 won't permit any monopolistic inventions. So, Google will not have any place in future, if it doesn't change its strategy of Internet Lord.

    Do google really monopolise the market or do they really just give most people the search results they want or at least give more people what they want than other search engines? Google is the only search engine that gives me traffic even though some sites rank higher on Yahoo.

    I'm waiting for the MS - Yahoo deal. It will make some pressure on Google, no doubt about that.

    Yes, Google rules, but is it right? Don't you think ever that noone should rule the internet. Internet is free space of information, that should not be controlled by any commercial company.
