Mac runs the commercials about Pc's vs Mac and they always say why Mac is better. Example Mac gets less viruses. This is true but for one reason there are not enough Mac users for virus writers to spend their time making them. Its not that OSX is more secure its just no one cares. It has been proven by few who have taken up their job to prove this untrue and then tore through OSX as easily as you tear through Xp or Vista....Macs aren't better people just dont use them.

Fine by me. As a relatively new Mac user, I'm glad that I enjoy an awesome OS experience without viruses. I don't see the reasoning for no viruses to matter at all. The OS kicks ass, and there are no viruses. Sweet.

The one thing that bothers me about Mac users is their sense of invulnerability with regards to potential vulnerabilities in their OS. Most Mac users assume because they are such a small market share they won't get viruses, but as Apple's market share grows and begins to get closer to 20% (if it ever does) then we will begin to see far more viruses, worms and exploits written with OS X in mind.

It's not an assumption... For the moment, it is fact. Your point makes perfect sense, but ATM, we are still very virus free.... It's kinda refreshing, compared to my PC..

yeah that's the one thing that would really draw me towards OS X, but I still think it's foolish for Mac users not to run AVPs...you never know these days.

What would you suggest running? There kinda has to be an actual thread before someone makes an AVP for the Mac... Years ago there were a few, but they were useless given there were no viruses.

that is a problem lol...maybe run a Windows AVP like Kaspersky and Norton to at least give you some protection? All I know is that approx 5-10% of the computing world runs OS X, and they're definitely at risk.

I like Vista more than OSX. I mean, OSX it's good, but that's for kids. Vista is more complex.

Well, I'm a Vista fan, but I disagree with you :) MacOSX is very complex behind the scenes

Hmm. I can give you an example: When installing Y!M on OSX you just have to drag&drop one icon. That's all! That's for kids :). But of course, behind the "interface" there is a lot of hard, really hard stuffs.

    ehem. No.

There are 2 low threats to OS X (both virtually nonexistant) and both require your password to be installed. Compare that the the 100,000+ new viruses created for Windows each year. Sure crap exists, but I've never heard a mac user complain about spyware... OS X becomes more and more secure each year (with each release).
