I guess that if you are posting in sites that are RELEVANT to what you're doing on the Internet, how can they hurt? They help because: 1) people find out about your site 2) the people who click on your siggy link, many of them have Toolbars 3) the link has value with Yahoo (counted in Yahoo Site Explorer).
see google webmasters.. mine clearly shows that the DP links are being counted.. I don't think Google will NOT count DP sig links although as PR is zero for many so it won't help that much but if you got some 1000 posts than sig link might be easy way to get indexed with Google very quick.. and as someone said stumble the threads..isn't DP banned on SU?
Even if Google didn't decide to count DP signature links there is a benefit in having them. People click on the signature links and it's excellent exposure for your site, service or product. I see clicks coming from my DP signature every day.
I know it got me some visits... and some sales in my sig store So anyway, a link is a link. More exposure... at least that....
Other then maybe helping SERP, it's the human traffic from the forum itself that is the true benefit of the signature link. Link juice, at least when it's PR flavored would be ever so slight, yeah, it will help, but you are talking about a pinch per post per page (note, not just per sig). There are of course ways to milk a sig for all it's worth by posting smartly... but I'll not go into that here. Q
if you have responded to a thread which is having good PR in google results then links on them are of good value.
Here are the facts about google link juice when it comes to signiture back links. Took me a while to find this info, I hope it's helpful. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=803380
As from my experience, Signautre aleast bring an average of 50 clicks/day from a normal member with 500 posts. I recorded this with myself
I find that VERY hard to believe. 50UVs a day from just a forum sig and 500 posts? Are you posting on the front page of DP?
I tried this with an affiliate site that lets you keep track of clicks (botmaster.net) The number of clicks that I got was av 50/day. (though I dn't get any sale but it was an interesting find) Rest depends on the way you advertise your link.
SEO is the best way to promote websites: forum posting, sig links, directory links (submitting) ...etc It is better to spread your forum signature links and posts in more popular forums than posting a lot posts in only one forum. You post also should contain content and should be long. Google will index your sites as long as they are used/ clicked and have a high page rank for example from forums. You should not wait for people to click your sig links in forums, but you should hope your site crawls up in google.
It's all explained here guys http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=803380 Clear points about everything to do with your sig backlinks.
I keep seeing this! I'm really new to forums, and probably a bit naive, but keep seeing this type of notice... that signatures are for sale - or for rent over the summer, etc. lol. Jeez - it all seems a bit - well - wrong somehow. I'd quite like to imagine I was having a conversation with the same person on a fairly continuous basis if I ever reached that cyber-matey stage with anyone here. But on that note - does anyone want to hire my sig for the weekend? I don't think it's particularly link-juicy, but I can give a good price, and throw in a used watch, too.
I am not getting 50UV daily from my sig and I have a few more posts then you... maybe that is counting bot traffic. First off, that is hijacking the thread, and secondly, it's in the wrong section... though I am pretty sure that you are not meaning to be disruptive, so I hope the mods let you slide... You would be better off trying to sell it for a month, and trying to sell it down in BST... You'll find the longer the sig sale, the more some people want it. Likewise, more people looking for sigs are looking for them down there. (read the rulse & stickies & announcements before posting in BST!)
Well, the question is not whether these signatures add link juice, it is the return on investment. If you are posting replies simply for the purpose of generating backlinks, you are obviously wasting your time. There are other areas where your efforts would be much more fruitful. But if you have forums you participate in and post on a regular basis, you would be an idiot not to have a signature. It is space wasted.
Can a professional/expert marketer look at this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=805222 and tell me if this link building for members of DP will work? It's just an idea I had to benefit all DPers by creating more link juice for their sigs. Noone seems to have caught onto the idea yet but I'm sure if it's successful then we could see all posters in there getting better PR juice from their sigs.
