What does it take? A million hits a day??

I have 8 of my sites signed up with CJ now. I am running some banner ads on the sites, not overdoing it I don't think..
Over the last week or so 2,209 impressions.. and a whopping 6 clicks.
    Pathetic.
What does it take to make money with this program? Obviously a LOT more traffic than I have.

keep at it grooveman - the results will come if you just keep working at it.

It does require a lot some times but the results will usually come a month or so down the line!

(plus theres always like a day lag minimum on ebay earnings!)

He isn't talking about EBAY :)

Groove man i've got news for you,

if you keep using banners, it doesn't get any better, 2,209,000 impressions = 6,000 clicks = 30 to 60 sales

perhaps $3,000 to $7,000 which doesn't sound bad till you consider what you had to do to get 1,000,0000 impressions, this is usefull pocket money for really big sites

Text links are what works best for most people , i think, and that has been my experience so far

No matter how many impressions I got ,no one was clicking my banners, then I started using text links recently and things are getting better slowly

I am no expert but I do use AdWords to promote my sites and ads. Targeted traffic is the only traffic that really works, unless you have over a mil. visitors a day or something like that. Banner ads do work but they only work (just like text ads) if you have a targeted traffic that is looking for what you have to offer.

Grooveman, banners don't work well. You need text links that are relevant to your content. Your content needs to cater to what your visitors are looking for or make them want what your offering. Then you will see the clicks and the conversions.

I almost want to say that banner ads are obsolete. I read somewhere that the average clickthru of a banner is 0,3% and it looks like you are in that neighborhood.

If it's just filling the space I would leave it there but don't expect to make money of it if your site is doing 300-500 visitors a day. I also recommand that you use textlinks in your content and targeted to your audience.

I agree that banners just don't perform as well now.
Text links do almost 200%better for me this year.

I use a mix of banners and adsense on my websites.
Recently I have noticed that I am making way more from adsense than any of the banners.
Banners have been horrible for me, I get about 500-1000 clicks a month on my banners and usually only see around 2 or 3 conversions.
I keep thinking what my adsense account would look like with 500-1000 clicks in a month =-)

I only use banners to give the impression of more "stuff" on the site.

I don't think anyone clicks on banners anymore.

Highly targeted visitors, combined with in context text links seems to be working for me.

I completely agree with you. That happened to me about two months ago.
