I accidentally logged into my PayPal under a proxy, and now they have limited my account. I completed the first two verifications and now they want me to verify where I live by phone. I can do that, but when I go to complete it, it asks for a credit card. I put in my CC info and then it says I can't add a credit card because my account is limited. What do I do now? I'd call them but they don't give me a PIN access code for their phone support, and their other support number is not toll free and they probably can't help me at all. I'd email them too but we all know that that is useless.
Well, I just tried their general support number and they ask for the last 4 digits to my Debit Card, Credit Card or Bank Account. All good, except it won't let me add any of those since I don't have any of them on my account at the moment. I did have a bank account on there at one time, though. So, I'm pretty much out of luck right now. I could probably email them and receive an automated response telling me to try and activate my phone number again because obviously I'm wrong and they're right.
sorry to hear about this... always remember never login to paypal from different IP address or proxy... even if you are verified, you will still get limited for logging in to paypal from different IP addresss... but now the only thing you can do is go inside the paypal account and then resolve centre and then provide the documents to remove the limits.... first remove the limits and then add the CC on your account... that is what i did when i get limited twice.... also remember if you get limited more then 4 or 5 times then paypal will lock your account forever and youi will never be able to use there service ever again.... so always make sure you dont login from different IP....
Hi, My experiences with paypal were not that bad as people tell it to be. The only thing you can do is call them. Don't email them because its useless. The last time I called, they kept me waiting for around 15-20 mins - it was only after that I was directed to their personnel. Call them, when the operator picks up, give your paypal address and stuff, and ask them to transfer the call to the supervisor of your concerned department. Reason being, after the main operator transfers you to your concerned department, a subordinate receives the call. Its useless talking to him/her, because in the end they'll say they're transferring the call to his/her supervisor. After I reached the supervisor, everything worked out fine, and he was trying his level best to help me. He asked me to submit some extra proof, after giving me the assurance that he'll keep a watch on my case for another 24 hours. Truly, to his word, my account was re-instated after a day. After doing a rough search, I found out this blog to be related to your problem: http://www.theblog.ca/paypal That's the toll free number of PayPal (Or as the author claims). I haven't tried it yet, so I've no idea. However, I would recommend calling the main number directly instead.
That was.. Unexpected. I called in, got transferred to resolution support. I told him what happened and he asked for my name, and where I live and in under a minute he removed the limit on my account. I didn't even have to verify anything or add a credit card. By the way, for business accounts be sure to enter your work phone instead of home phone when you call in because the system does not recognize your home phone. That was my trouble when trying to contact phone support. Problem fixed in under 10 minutes. Has something changed at PayPal or did I just get extremely lucky?
Ohh man gahoo.......u are soooo lucky ,do u know i have SAME to SAME problem like u ,please can u guide me step by step like which number should i call and UNLIMIT my paypal?its with 213$ in it i am also unable to add cc and i finished all other steps in resolution, please help me gahoo. let me know i would like to know from which country are u ?and please tell me what to tell them ....man god blesss u ..hope i get my a/c unlimited soon...thanks buddy
You need to telephone them after you have uploaded utility bill and bank statement, changed your pass, faxed them the barcode page... Good Luck. Mine took 2 weeks. looooooooooooooooooooool
Hey Harry , well they dont ask me for any documents like u said. There were only 3 steps to remove my limitations. 1) Change Password 2) Change Security Questions 3) Add Credit Card. The only thing i cant do is i cant add my creditcard. my a/c was limited after receiving a payment from one of my friend ( but i dint received any mail like it was an unauthorized payment or something) so please guide me friends wht to do... Harry and Gahoo are tooo lucky they got their a/c back.
That's really crazy. I'm glad your issue was resolved and will try to avoid logging in from different IPs based on your experience. What an unfortunate limitation they seem to have. Once you end up in PayPal limbo it seems like it can be time consuming to get out as well!
You don't need to add a credit card just call them from the number your account has for Home or Business. Tell the Indian you want to talk to a resolution center person and you'll be transferred.
hey i was having almost the same prob maybe you would better just withdraw your money to your bank and forget about this account
Ohh my friends, i LOVE you all. Thanks DP alot. hey gahoo same thing happened to me , talked with paypal from 1 hr ( they have fucking Customer Support but still i LOVE them too ) i got my 213$ back , thanks
paypal is a waste of time, once you get limited lifted. they going to keep bothering you, you mind as well make a new one
I'm glad the resolved the issue quickly in your case. It makes me worry that I usually use PayPal when traveling... A lot of hotel wireless networks use proxy IPs these days and it seems rather inevitable that my account will be limited. Thanks for posting.
There is nothing wrong is using different IP addresses, very few ISPs in the world do offer static IP addresses to their customers. Each time you reconnects, you would most likely get a new IP address. There is also nothing wrong in also accessing Paypal from your office and your home. Or even outside of your home country for that matter (as I have done so myself). Of course, I would know when I would travel and before I do, I will drop a short note to Paypal about where I will be travelling to and never had any problem. The only thing you cannot do is to access Paypal using an Anonymizing Proxy as it is explicitly prohibited by Paypal. You also cannot access Paypal from a non-supported country. See https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/UserAgreement/ua/USUA-outside#restricted-policy . Standard transparent Proxies are fine but not those who anonymize your access. Also when there is a change of IP addresses from one region to another, it has to be reasonable. It is not like now you access using a US IP address and the next hour, you access it using an Australian IP Address. Even with the speed of air travel now, it is just not possible to travel that fast from country to country.
