Well they are an unelected secretive body similar to the federal reserve which some of you here claim we should get ride of because as some of you here claim they are secretive and the members are not elected to their positions.
Last time I check the Habeus corpus didn't apply to foreign terrorist. As for the issue of Torture, I have a fix for that. We should fight all wars like we fought WWII. Any enemy caught fighting out of uniform was shot dead on the spot.
You do realize that of the hundreds of men held in Guantanamo, all but a handful of them are going to be released because they are not terrorists? These are innocent people, kidnapped and tortured for years, because Bush had to make it look like they had caught a lot of Al Queda, when in fact many of them are just poor illiterate Afghani farmers? So if you believe America has the right to kidnap innocent foreigners in their own countries, and torture them for years, then fine. You just better hope the world never comes asking for payback. Because that in my opinion, makes us no better than the Nazis, Saddam or any of these other guys. There is a reason why torture is prohibited under international law. Because it is immoral in a civilized society.
Uhm, no it isn't. Answer me this. 6 years after Afghanistan, how many terrorists from Guantanamo have been convicted of a crime? How many have been released? You're the torture fan, what's the matter, uncomfortable questions? Wouldn't this be fun if one of your loved ones was kidnapped and tortured by foreign soldiers? It will make the world safer....
Superb observation and very true. I'm amazed that terrorists like Bush and Cheney managed to get away with this for so long, all under the pretence of the Boogeyman. The place is a human rights disgrace, why else would it be located outside of the USA? Because they would never get away with it if it was inside the USA.
Bush expoited 9-11 to the hilt. Now it's coming back to bite him and he's looking for an escape hatch.
And once again. Liberal tactic of trying to use exagerrations and emotions to debate. Why don't your present some real facts instead. And did you know that there are a decent number of Gitmo detainess that prefer to stay in captivity because their life in prison is better then their life in the middle east. Did you know that people in Gitmo get television, good meals, and much more.
I'm asking you questions, and you're dodging. How many exactly? Where did you get this info? Well, then that makes it ok to torture them. They get to watch American Idol and eat Hungry Man dinners! I'd still like to know if you or one of your loves ones would like to spend an indefinite period of time in Guantanamo. Have you ever been subjected to water boarding? I hear it's a real blast. You actually feel like you're going to die.
Kind of like you like to do. They do not want to go back for various reasons. Most often because they will be killed and their own nations have even worse human right violations. At least when we "torture" people they come out of it alive. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8G6CJV03&show_article=1 Nice sarcasm. Gives nothing to the conversation. Have you ever attended terror training camps? Fueled an insurgency attacking American troops? These people all may nto of been directly part of al queda but normally they had some involvement in other activities. And stop using your lame emotional arguments because they are worthless.
Example? Propaganda. Re-read the article. The people who have been tortured and kidnapped don't want rendition. I don't know how else to respond to your ridiculous assertions. But if there was proof of these activities, then they would be able to be tried in court. Do you feel that suspicion justifies torture and kidnapping? They are not emotional arguments. I am asking if you think that the way you condone treating others is the same standard you would subject yourself and your loved ones to.
