I came across an article which confirms that windows xp will be coming off the shelf in June 2008
You will be able to find computer pre loaded with xp as time goes on xp will phase out thus making it more difficult to acquire (stuck with vista :()

Well, I can only say that for a while I was one of the crowd that said Vista has load of Niggles and what-not, but after my old laptop becoming unusable (Blast ever increasing technology) I have upgraded to a new, Vista machine and it is quite amazing.

Onto the the subject of XP.

Well, personally I still love XP but I think that Microsoft turns a blind eye to everyone who would like the support to continue, and this makes Microsoft look worse in our eyes. If someone from Microsoft was reading this now, they would get a funny feeling in their stomach and look away.

If I owned microsoft I would extend the support for XP untill 2010

Vista performed well on the newest machines and lots of rams, I added in full 4 GB of ram. Pity that XP is EOL it takes up much less resources than Vista.

Microsoft promote Vista now. Xp is in the past. XP will be out because time pass and with time XP come with some big errors, that Microsoft hope solved them in into Windows Vista.

Honestly if vista was as solid as Xp when its just came up many up us wouldn't be having upgrade anxiety.

One of the reasons is bugs, 2nd reason is more functionality but the third and foremost reason is that it forces consumers to buy a new operating system, big revenues for Microsoft as well as for hardware vendors as Vista takes in much more processing power and ram.

Vista is costly, I will give you that, but a re-furb'ed computer can get great deals!

Imo xp has been the best m$ os. Vista will have a big job to do and is so far failing. For sure it will be the end for xp regardless of whether people go out and buy the disc. All new prebuilt pc come with vista this puts people on auto accept. M$ will always win.

Yeah I totally agree with that. You can run XP fine on 1GB of ram. Your computer will have a decent speed. Install Vista and the exact same programs on that computer and it will run a lot slower. I know there are other reasons for a new OS, but increasing performance should be one of them, not a big decrease.

That is if you add in 4 GB Ram but Vista 32 bit can only recognize 3.5GB :( 4 GB is the absolute max.

I don't think it will be that soon, Microsoft needs to recoup the money and earn a profit from the investments it made on Vista :)
