I'm probably going to make myself look stupid here but hey, I'm still fairly new to this and only joined epn last week.

could someone please explain the difference between impressions and clicks for me?

Impressions are views. You must have tracking image in place to see impressions.. so unless you added that, direct links and RSS feeds won't show impressions. Editor Kits on the other hand will show impressions.

Clicks are when a visitor actually clicks the link and goes to eBay.

For example. You may have a editor kit (and set to open in a new window). Visitor hits that page (gets 1 impression). But he clicks 5 items within that kit (5 clicks).

    Hope this helps

it does, thank you very much. I'm currently trying out editor kit with a free host as a try out as my usual work is drying up (I'm a builder).

I first started looking into IM quite a while ago but never had enough time to commit to it because of work. however, with the credit crunch affecting house prices and building work I've got both more time and incentive to look into it more.

any profits made are going to go straight to paying for my own hosting and I've got an idea for an ebook in a popular niche in the planning stages.

at the moment I'm not earning a great deal but I'm Learning a great deal and having fun too so it's all good.

I have 619 impressions and 29 clicks for a site I launched yesterday (signature linked it in forums on the topic) is this good?

    29/619 = 4.685%

not bad, normal 1% ~ 10% depends on niche and position of ads

Sometimes banners are sold by impressions - be careful of this as impressions could mean no click through to your site. A click through rate of 4.685% is pretty good.
