At the end of the day, 1945-1989 - it was pretty obvious who won WW2. USA and USSR. After the war, they're the only ones left standing who had expanded their sphere of influence.

Stalin probably could have taken out Germany even if the allies hadn't been putting pressure on the west, but mostly because Stalin had no value for Russian soldier's lives and he had no problem sending millions of his own people to their death.

I don't like Stalin or the USSR I just find it weird that the Soviet role in WW2 was so extremely downplayed in my American education.

But anyway, if you want to re-play WW2 I would recommend a game like Axis&Allies. (like i'm playing in my avatar) Other than the dice randomizing everything its pretty historically accurate of the placement and power of the various armies.

There is certainly no misunderstanding that Russia played a huge part in the war. We know that Russia was willing to lose every single person they had but they were certainly losing ground prior to the United States getting involved and at that point, it was still very well possible that they could lose the war all together. Forcing Germany to split forces gave Russia much needed breathing room. US did have a big part in the success of that war, please don't group us in a whole thinking that no one else is acknowledged.

    Thanks I agree.

Also what about Japan. They were also clearly willing to lose every man, and better yet, the soldiers thought it was an honorable thing to do. Just answer the question I had previously asked.:D

Sure, they were losing ground, until the winter got involved. Then they sent their horses and skiers and own those frozen german tanks

On top of that they had their good old vodka which kept them warm while the germans froze to death. That's how The Russian defeated the Germans. Britain played a big part in it too of course cause they were fighting them from the start. But USA and Canada(where I live) were not really needed, it would of been harder if we didn't get involved and maybe took longer but the outcome would still be the same.

This reminds me of that game where it plays an alternative to the WW2, where supposingly the US didn't get involved and Germany took over all of Europe and then later on went to war with the US. My friend was talking about like last week and I thought it was funny cause obviously what would have happened is Russia would of taken over all of Germany.

Totally agree, we can say that nowadays media, games, hollywood films do distort the real history.

Yes, the revolution did its job, leading to a civil war later on from 1917. Reds and Whites..Lenin, and all that stuff, they were shooting themselves and there was chaos, surely you cant concetrate on the war, when there is a battle for the crown:)

Don't forget Stalin's 5 year plans which heavily industrialized Russia. This is one of the main reason why Russia got so strong and survived the German surprise attack. Which brings up the controversy of whether Stalin good or bad. His 5 Year Plans killed lot of people but at the same time it saved mother Russia, because he knew Hilter was going to attack him. It even said in Hilter's little book.

Stalin's 'Great Purge' of 1937–1939 eliminated 40000 Red Army officers and left the Red Army weak in 1941.

That was his method, to shoot the ones who can escape and the ones who were running back in an attack were killed...Its very questionable whether it was the right thing to do or not, probably he knew more than all of us. However, I more tend to think that too much people died, and it could be less maybe with another leader? But who knows.

Seems like you're the most hate-filled person in the world. In case you haven't looked around, the U.S. hasn't been declining since WWII. Quite the contrary. US influence was barely felt in 1945 and is now felt everywhere, even in your tiny part of the world.

Is someone going to answer the question?

What if Japan had not been fighting with the USA, and attacked Russia instead. How would have this affected the war.

The Axis would have defeated Russia - Britain would have been forced into a peace treaty.
