No its not. Thats outdated. I believe Sex.com recently sold for like 12mil to 14mil and there was anothero ne.
This one is not quite accurate. I got the lowdown on this one at a tradeshow I went to in Vegas. The actual price of the domain was $5,000. The seller was also given $5 million in stock options, if As seen on tv.com ever went public, which it hasn't yet. So that selling price is really $5,000 (pending an IPO).
Thanks for the info, I'll have to make some changes. Here's a page I put up today, kinda funny: the longest eBay auction. Almost 31 years.
Been a passive reader of this forum for a while and had to jump in here. The world record for the most expensive domain is being attempted by www.TheRecordBreakingDomain.com, which is selling for $12,000,001. He's trying to create the most publicized ad in history, and I think he's going to make it because his idea is pretty damn good (although a bit crazy, but maybe that's why it HAS to work! ). I would even but my referral link here, but it won't let me (damn! )...he's giving away $8 million of the prize money, 4 mil to charity and 4 mil to his "supporters". It's definitely a good read, even if you are skeptical (which I still kinda am). thoughts? cb
Thats not happening. He is looking for some major suckers because for 12 million you can buy way better publicity then being looked upon as an idiot.
Not going to happen, plus domains have sold in the $30,000,000+ range before, at least I think bank.com did!
Don't believe every domain transaction is recorded by DNJournal. There has been private deals going on fore years. Those that are in the publication are there because For companies who buy having the publicity is not important sometimes. They just want the domain. What fortune 500 company do you guys have access to all of their purchases? There are even domaining entities that remain anonymous.
