Ok I have read a hell of a lot on the forums here and i do SEO as a job (before i found this place). Now, although about 80% of what people are saying will help seo, I think its useless because you can do other things which will help it more. For my personal ite (in my sig) i have owned it for over a year. but started seo in january. It actually used to be for a clan on xbox 360. Ok; 1. Sort your html linking. build a template you will use for all/most pages and make sure the links are all html and correct. 2. Directories Spend about an hour each day submitting to free directories. (and i mean working days. the weekend is free time ) 3. Articles wright articles on seperate pages and contain your keywords and link these to your homepage (or a related page). 4. Indexing On your homepage when you have your articles. feature them on the homepage. once google indexes them replace them (this also gives the user something new to look at) and once you have replaced make sure they are also archived ( as soon as you have the article.) Because what is the point of indexing it to then remove the link? An archive can palinly be a page or pages with links to the articles. 5. Meta tags People may not agree but it looks professional anyway. Each Page just make sure its the right description Basically the focus is on the articles and the keywords linked within them. Try to aim for 6 articles a week but if you have more time do more.. After 3 months of this im reaching 1st for competative keyphrases and "gaming" on webpages is extreemly poplar. and i know people will say yea good for beginners but i do ... thats not what im saying.. im saying forget everything else unless you can do it not as part of the work (forum sigs for example).
Read it again wht i was saying is you may aswell do that if your posting on forums anyway. i meant its not part of the work.. its just there.
There are many internal and external SEO works that need to be done to be a success. You touched on a few but all things must be considered.
not at all this is all i have done and im flying up.. thats what im saying.. dont bother with the other crap.
In a way andymayo is right. Although he's missing a lot of key stuff, he's outlined the most important.
"Now, although about 80% of what people are saying will help seo, I think its useless because you can do other things which will help it more." My friend, Article Submission, Meta Tags, Directory Submission all are SEO & SEM Tactics. Still you think SEO is useless?
Alex, You definitely brought up some major points that will assist the average SEO beginner. To clarify to others, in SEO there are SEVERAL strategies that need to be used together. In-page strategy is the meta tags, keywords etc. that is actually on your home site. Off-page strategy includes social networking, blogging, and linking. Off-page strategy is certainly growing and will only continue to grow. That is the next major point, these strategies are appropriate for today, but SEO strategies are constantly changing every day. Years ago everyone was solely focused on in-page strategies, but now there is a shift towards off-page strategies and social media marketing. In conclusion, Alex brought up some good points, but there is a LONG and constantly adapting list of good strategies appropriate for SEO.
Ok im actually shocked at people on here who cant read english.. ok i could have wrote it better but c'mon! ok alex u see the part there where i say other things that will help it (IT BEING SEO!) more.. i never said SEO was usless fool i said some techneques are when time could be better spent elsewhere. seriously how did you mis read that?!? (80% i was saying is useless not SEO) anyway i dont agree its useless it was an overstatment. And you paul my name is andy.
" Off-page strategy includes social networking, blogging, and linking. Off-page strategy is certainly growing and will only continue to grow. That is the next major point, these strategies are appropriate for today, but SEO strategies are constantly changing every day. " paul i said directory submissions for off site. the reason being they are the quickest out of any off site technique and IMO most beneficial offering good links. and to add another point: 6. Link Exchange get as many related links as you can.. this helps a hell of a lot.
Dear Andy I think you got some problem with your English. Its better first you go to school, learn proper English and than come to this forum. English Language doesn’t have any word called "techneques" it’s called techniques my friend. And one more suggestion, always keep habit of coming up with new things buddy. What I think is 80% people are right and you are speaking useless. BEST OF LUCK
What i said is useless.. id like to see a site you do be remotly sucessfull without using that. And the stuff i was refering to is right but like i have said you could do other more productive things. and to be honest i dont care if you can read it. i live in england mate. and as for spelling.. there is a great invention called spellcheck. you havnt got a clue if you say my "techneques" are useless. You say my english is bad and you cant read a scentence properly.. ok the spelling was bad, but u knew what the words were enough to correct them.
its turned into a spelling bee... lol if you'd like you could get all those words and more printed at ezprintsolutions.com thats my only input on this.
As long as you get your point across there's no point to ridicule someone for misspelling something. I think ANDY had some good points in his original post. Andy, care to expand on your point "the reason being they are the quickest out of any off site technique and IMO most beneficial offering good links." Why do you suggest that directory submissions is the best off-page strategy for SEO. I'm just starting out so any advice would be great.
Hey andymayo, I was looking at your gaming community website and you may not have noticed, but I would recommend correcting the links in your "quick link" bar on the left side. I clicked on forum and it said it was moved and people had to manually type in the URL described. I noticed your top nav bar "forum" link worked but not the left side link. Just thought I would help for future visitors! Best
