I signed up for the Beta awhile ago & finally got to try it through an invite a few weeks ago.
Awesome search engine as far as usability goes.

I even tried it on an old Thinkpad 600X 500Mhz 256MB laptop & though the animation was a tad slow it still worked without being frustrating.

Not sure about being a huge competitor outside of the US & areas with widespread broadband. It appears to be pretty bandwidth intensive.

One interesting tidbit I read about the engine before I'd even been able to try it, is that the same people who backed Google financially in the beginning are backing searchme.

I doubt this will site will trouble Google. Ask MSN and Yahoo and even ASK

I don't like google's bullying attitude and the fact that they are monopolizing... Any alternative or competitor will surely get my support!

The thing about google is it returns results that are displayed in the most easiest and convenient way to read searchme makes that complicated

People used to say similar things about needing to get an invite to use GMail in the beginning.

I like it, and will use it from time to time, but my guess is I will still be using Google more, as it has become habbit.

Google shall dominate all searches. The Google Empire is more powerful than the Roman Empire now.

I don't think searchme will do that well if it continues asking people for their email address. Most people won't sign up for fear that their inbox will be filled with spam.

You cant take out google with this, yet you can affect them -> You will drive away a lot of their "adult" aka porn searchers.. your engine is a great way to also find images/videos.. Yet for finding sites, i am sorry its just way to slow
