How can I make some money out of my domains?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by $earner, Apr 15, 2008.

I have two domains I'm not using, but will use in the future. Is there a way I can make some money out of them?

Should I park them? How much money can you make by parking domains?

    Any other alternative?

    Thanks in advance.

You can park them anyway, but your earning depends on the traffic of your domains.

Depending on what your domains are about, you might be able to throw up some related offers.

For example a simple ebay affiliate site could be thrown up that may produce some income.

Here's a simple site I threw up in no time.

    http://usedgolfclubshub.com/

Let me know, we can JV, you keep the adsense income and I keep the ebay aff.
I do all the work, you just re-direct to my nameservers and I'll host it til you're ready to use it. Once you're ready, just change your namesevers back and presto.

It depends on the names. If they are good enough you may do many things with them to earn money. For example, you can lend them.

    Josher, I like your idea.

If I park them, how much traffic do I need to at least recover the registration fee?

Depends on the keywords (just like different niches pay differently with AdSense).

Well, if currently you are getting close to no traffic then parking them would probably earn you close to nothing. If no one knows your site exist, people will tend not to visit them.

However if it is a domain name which has residual traffic either because it was used before or because it is a typo of a popular websitte then it may be worth considering parking it.

As far as parking is concerned, traffic would just bring in more eyeballs and with that there would be a higher percentage of people clicking on ad links. It does not however guarantee that anyone would click on the ads.

Parking is great if you do plan to use the domain name in the future and while it sits idling, you could earn something. However, if you never intended to use the domain name again, you could either sell it or just let it lapse. As for how much you can get for the domain name, it would depends on how attractive the domain name is.

Thanks, eddy2099. I think I will park it, because I plan to use that domain in the future and maybe I can make some money in the mean time.

Or you could build a site on it and put it on Ebay. Some of those sellers get some pretty ridiculous bids on junk sites! Tell the bidders how they can make money with the site through Adsense, Amazon, and Clickbank...throw a few links and banners up and you're done.

Probably there is no difference. Parking it if you do not have your own web hosting but doing so means you be sharing income with the one you are parking with. If you put your own template and add an adsense then you will not need to share the income but you will need to have your own hosting. If it is just a single page then you can just set up an add-on domain which should work out well as it should not take up too much space.

Of couse you should park them! You're potentially missing out on some revenue.

As to how much you could make, depends on the traffic to your name.

I always park until I can develop them & it is also a good way of building a little traffic up once they get indexed...

There are many options out there. One of the top domainers does nothing gets all the traffic ending in .cm

If you make a mistake and forget to type in the "o" in.com then it goes to his site. He has a mutli-million deal in place with Cameroon, there counntry top level domain is .cm.
