India, China should form a common union....

along the lines of EU and include the smaller nations surrounding the two countries like Burma, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Thailand, etc. This will no doubt boost trade, investment between member countries and bring about greater social cohesion. It will also put an end to the border disputes the two countries have had for some time.

I know there is already the ASEAN for South East Asian nations, but I feel these two giant neighbouring countries could help each other greatly if they come to some sort of an agreement.

Before form any union you need to behave with others country like a true friend, not as a big brother. Without improve this, a common union formation is impossible.

If you look at the EU, since the gradual integration began in the 1970's the threat of conflict has greatly receded because of common interests. I think the same could happen in that region because it is quite volatile as it stands now.

Not likely India is a non align nation, has been in this way all along. China and India aren't really the best of friends, there is still quite a few thorny border issues. Also China is a communist state whereas India is the largest democracy in the world, few common points to have a common union.

I know its extremely unlikely as China would need to first democratise itself for such a union to become reality, but the positive outcomes would be tremendous if it ever happened.

Too powerful, the world is best with multi polar powers with no dominant superpowers but a few superpowers capable of reining in each other. Look at what happen now with one superpower. The world's getting mess up because of this.

We already have SAARC in place which is an union of eight south asian countries the newest one being Afghanistan.

Though China is not an active member in this group but it has the position of montioring country for SAARC

Funny cause you know putin has an extremely high approval rating. People in Russia don't want democracy. If they had a vote on it done democraticly they would vote to reject it.

I have lost all trust in democracy. In India, democratically elected people, the politicians, are the MOST corrupt.

The Judiciary, the Judges of High Court and Supreme Court get the highest respect coz they have undertaken the responsibility of saving India from these corrupt "democratic" politicians. The Judiciary is not elected democratically, but is hand-picked by the Chief Justice of India. Thank God for that...

Indian economy has grown not coz of politicians, but despite the politicians...

Economically the two combined would be unbeatable, culturally there are big differences between the two of them, which I believe would prevent a real merger.

India judges are among the best in the common wealth, their cases are often used as precedence for other cases inside the common law system.

Don't worry my friend, as India progresses, the people will demand for better candidates I am sure the standards of the politicians will improve.

India and China have too many disputes...the probability of the two nations going to war is more than the probability of the two nations forming some sort of union.

India is much better aligning itself with the west.

The gap between the rich and the poor needs to be addressed for both countries to prevent social unrest. Well this is something tough, hope they can be up to the task.

That's normal everywhere. It's hard to find a honest politician in any system.

And that's why big government socialism is a fallacy. The people drive the economy, not the government.

You mean like in the US, UK etc? ;) :p
