    Hi,

Ok guys, I am really fed up and I am not a PC techie, my PC is constantly slow, and I can't run more than 1 task (When I use Photoshop, It almost crashes)..

What can I do about this.. I've chatted with a friend who knows about PC stuff more than me and told me to clear cache, temp, bla bla..

    But this didn't work.

My PC specs are as following
    2.53ghz intel celeron
    256mb ram

This is what appears in computer properties.. So please let me know If I need any upgrade.

Notice that it has been working smooth in the past. and I've sent it to the factory a few times already.

I would like to be able to open photoshop, browse Dp and do many things without having to wait for the PC to respond. What do you guess?

I am using Windows XP Sp2, updated.

    RAM issue most definitely

increase memory and you will have enogh memory to run big programs and multiple tasks.

256 MB RAM is also too small for windows XP once you have "piled"/installed several programs especially of gaming, designing, editing softwares.

Someone offered me a 512mb ram for $30. Do you think I should get it? can I combine it with the 256mb to make total near 1gb? ~ Then I expect no further slowdown from PC right?

Yes, I understand now. But I am really confused.. The 256mb ram is really new. Now If I want to upgrade I must get rid of it..so 512 is not compatible with 256 or what? Excuse me, no much info about hardwares. I thought I can just buy a 512 and put it in the empty set and increase memory.

memories are best/stable and you get better out for "juice" in this order

    3. different brand, different size
    2. different size, same
    1. 1 large size one (read your pc manual for Motherboard to see whats max size each slot can handle)

RAM's are quite cheap these days. An additional 256mb will make things run smoother. You could do a fresh install of Windows. It will make things run smoother.

Sell your 256mb RAM, and buy yourself a 1gig, or even 2gb

1, format your system , and use one program in one time
    2, upgrade system configuration
    3, get a new computer

Gettting a whole new computer does not look like a suitable solution. I will install the new RAM and find out. Thanks everyone.

Instead of going for just a 1GB stick you can best go for 2x512mb or even 2x1GB if your motherboard allows it. Upgrading or adding more memory is the fastest, easiest and cheapest way to make your computer faster. Do a little research on your motherboard, see what it can take, then go to the store and ask for help :)
