If you want to boost your windows performance then i'll recommend Yamicsoft Vista Manager. I'm using myself. This really makes my system faster.
Here is your answer: Make your Microsoft Vista fast like your old Windows XP. I hope it works for you. I tried it and my Vista is faster than before. But you cannot believe you are going to get a wonder.
Personally, I haven't had a single major issue with Vista myself, but I'm running a rather updated system. Dual core 3.0Ghz processor, 2g ddr2. This thing doesn't handle things perfectly, but it is great. One of the first sites I ran across for tweaking vista was www.speedyvista.com . They've got a number of excellent registry tweaks, tips, all the like, and it's a great resource. Just be careful and backup your registry if you actually use any of their pre-defined registry files.
That is by far the best way to go. Im running Vista with a 5,5 GB installation folder. Just remove everything you don't need or use and install.
I started a thread about this called Vista Performance Tips and a lot of people have added to it. Feel free to check it out if you like.
Yes your tips worked! Only just got Vista. It was preinstalled on my laptop. I like it and will like it more now it is faster.
If you liked Vista, you'll love Windows 7. I've been using it since the beta was released, and it's just awesome. It's Vista without the massive memory usage!
Is it available now or just Beta? It’s my first week on Vista and I love it. As the OP said, It’s fine if you PC can run it. A friend has it on an old PC and he hates it.
7 is just in beta, but you can get a key from Microsoft and download it. Is it a stable beta? I haven't switched off of it since I started ( a couple days off of the start ), and I'm running both the desktop AND the laptop 24x7. I'm personally seeing a LOT less errors with 7, and the driver support is a lot better. Of course, yes, it's a beta, and the typical warnings exist, such as don't do it unless you know what you're doing, but realistically, I've been sold on 7 since day 1, and I loved Vista. Give it a shot, the worst thing that happens is you have to reload the OS back to Vista
Thank you for the reply. I will leave Vista on the Laptop but Windows 7 will be installed on my Home PC.
